Stuck Ridgid chuck on vintage Craftsman DP

I posted about my "new" Craftsman 113-24580 15-1/2" drill press last month. I still can't get the collared Ridgid Supreme 6T33C chuck off so I made a video hoping someone who has such a chuck can offer advice to remove this beast. Thanks, Brian

My "new" Craftsman 113-24580 15-1/2" drill press

Thanks, Provincial I was wondering if the Supreme chuck was original. I'm pretty sure my earlier Craftsman had a Jacobs mounted. I'll give your suggestion to vibrate the chuck loose a try.

My "new" Craftsman 113-24580 15-1/2" drill press

I'm HOPING that that TIR can be corrected by cleaning/re-seating. I can actually see the wobble as the chuck rotates, but this is the first time I've ever used a dial indicator. I used the same indicator, good drill bit and setup to check the runout on the Jet with a brand new (possibly NOS)...

My "new" Craftsman 113-24580 15-1/2" drill press

Here is the collar fully spun to the top and the bottom. It takes a bit less than two revolutions to go lock-to-lock. I hope many GJers have or have had these chucks mounted on presses, so please let me know if this collar is properly attached to the press or just added onto the threaded...

My "new" Craftsman 113-24580 15-1/2" drill press

The collar moves a bit and will spin once I nudge it free with a punch or the tip of a small chuck key.

My "new" Craftsman 113-24580 15-1/2" drill press

In a few weeks I expect to post a comparison between this and the new-ish Jet JDP-14J that I've been using the last couple of years, but in the meantime I hope folks can help me free up the chuck. The press came with a Ridgid Supreme 6T33C collared chuck, a design that seems to have been...

My "new" Craftsman 113-24580 15-1/2" drill press

Getting this thread started now and will revisit and expand later today. I just picked up this Craftsman 113-24580 drill press, made in 1969. I actually had the same model bench top press a few years ago and stupidly sold it in preparation for a move - I thought I would spread out the pain of...

    Is this drill desireable ?

I don't mean to hijack this thread; I'll look for a vintage drill thread. But here is the next resto on deck - a Milwaukee #1100 1/2" drill. Completely frozen, cord chopped down, but it's a looker, as far as i'm concerned..and it's already grounded. If I get this to work, it's even slower than...

    Is this drill desireable ?

Can someone explain WHY these old drills are so dangerous? I'm wondering why they are more dangerous than modern drills. I ask because I have been on a tear buying and partially restoring old, all metal drills, sanders and sabre saws. Here's my latest (partial) restoration - it's a Cummins...

Ideal No. 3 stencil machine restoration

Fantastic tool, and restore! I never knew such a tool existed, much less that they would be installed on ships. Are you interested in making up stencils for sale? I'd love one with the family name, so I could slather our name all over the place like Jimmy Diresta!

    Help identifying old drill press

Looks much like my Canedy-Otto Royal 16. Unfortunately mine is partially disassembled, but I'll see if I have any pics to compare.
