    chicago pneumatic cp9429

I would take it apart to clean up /inspect the insides and working parts. When you put it back together, I would, use any ATF fluid to soak the parts. Good luck with it. I use my 25 year old CP long anvil gun a lot. Uncle Bob

Kellogg American model 321 valve tools

I need to re-valve a compressor I acquired, and was wondering if there is anyone out there who has the tools, and would consider letting me borrow or rent them. I can afford the valves, but for a one time job buying the tools is simply too expensive. I was a Boy Scout, and served 24...

What type of hammer is this?

Tack hammer, usually used by upholsterers. The hammer is like some screwdrivers in that it will magnetically hold the fastener (a tack, in this case) giving the user, literally in this case, an extra hand. I have one just like it, and they are a fairly common item.

    Broke my trusty sidecutters

This ain't no ****...Take those stiff pliers to a HOT water spigot. While working the pliers under a stream of hot water, they will loosen up. Every person I've ever shown or told was simply amazed. My father showed me when I was a little fella of about 5 and I've been fixing all sorts of...

Leaking copper unions for compressed air.

Look in the odd fastener and parts drawers at Lowes and see if you can find a teflon (white, plastic-y) washer that looks like it might fit the inside of the fitting, to act as a gasket. Forget twisting the fitting until it starts getting easier, forget permatex, forget fooling with teflon...

    Another Compressor Pump I.D.

If it was mine ! I would unbolt the head, where the valves live, and give them a good eyeballing. If they are reed valves and are broken, you might be able to get something close to the pattern, like from Grainger's Parts div. Good luck Uncle Bob

Craftsman Compressor questions 5hp? replace pump?

I would take a look at the Harbor Freight offering. If bought and taken home, I would open up the drain fitting and pour some kerosene in it, then shake the beJesus out of it and then empty the witches brew into a clean bucket. Give the liquid a close eyeball inspection, and stir with a...

    Costco whole house generator?

That is the price to pick-up the gen at the store, or at least I should think that is the deal, with delivery $$ on top of it. Now, you have to have a separate structure to house it from the wx, or have it sitting outside in the wx. Then you need at least 1 licensed electrician to do the...

    Frost proof sillcocks

There is nothing as good as having only one main valve for multiple (read "all") standard hose bibbs (NPT) exposed to wx. Even better is placing another valve on a tee to act as a drain just downstream of that central valve. Even better would be to either have extensions on those...

compressed air pipe through wall - how to insulate

Your solution is viable, as I do the same. The air won't be all that hot enough to worry about it. If you are really that concerned, then use the red tube (hi heat) of Permatex. Uncle Bob

    HF Compressor noise

You were warned ! Read all the posts you can beforehand. Try trading it in for a oil lubricated model. Use an excuse like "it doesn't give me enough volume to run my _______." Uncle Bob

How to stop car in garage?

Unfortunately **** Happens, and if it does it will happen at the worst possible time and place: A friend of mine was on his way to the local auto parts store to buy some brake parts...when the unthinkable happened. He drove his car up onto the sidewalk then continued on thru the plate...
