Inside dryer vent - filter question

No, the force of the dryer output drives the lint onto the water surface, the air turns, stirring the "soup"nicely, the lint and dust don't and are trapped in the water. I added a 4 in. piece of pipe to the plastic elbow, I got at Lowes,in the appliance dept. and keep the water level between 1...

Inside dryer vent - filter question

Creative use for empty kitty litter bucket. Put about 4 inches of water in the bucket, add a little pine-sol or other good smelling soap product to the water. This setup traps even the fine lint, adjust the water level for best traping, with out splashing the water out. Paul

What are you doing to keep spiders out of your garage?

Shortly after my shop was dryed in I found I had spider/mouse problem. I took a walk in a rough lot, found a big female blacksnake, and moved her in to the back shop. we occasionally scare the hell out of each other, but the mouse problem is no more, and she's happily living under the jetwash...

    Flooring for grinding and welding

We have a product availible here, called "masonite" or hardboard, the same material peg board is made of, in 2 grades, hard and tempered. It's a compressed glue and fiber sheet 4 X 8 ft. in 2 thicknesses 3/16 and 1/4 inch (3.2 and 5.5 MM I think) I layed 4 sheets side by side on the floor, and...

To insolate or not to insolate?

Insulate, for sure. consider a radiant heat reflector, at least for the roof. Check out the thd here about bubble/foil insulation. RED

    Cabinet depth

If you run your blast cabinet exhuast to the central vac, you're gonna kill it quick. The fines that the filter can't stop, will eat the motor bearings. Very expensive lesson... RED

    radiant barrier/bubble insulation.

I'm in nearly the same situation you are, (see my shop thd. "i've been shopping") and was going to tough it out this summer to see how hot it got. Well, it's not even the hot part of the summer down here (SW Florida) and the shop is too hot to work in from about 9:30 AM to 10 PM. If I open the...

    White Walls-Gloss?

In my new shop,(bare block) I used high gloss, brilliant white, Flexbon brand latex. 2 coats, over a good block sealer. very bright, but the rough block texture kills the shine a little. I do worry about reflected UV rays from welding, but so far, it hasn't been a noticible problem. RED

    Help Me Pour Concrete!

MKR, Please don't take this the wrong way. If I were in your place, (and I have been several times) I would either put off the pour until you can scratch up the extra bux for the pro finisher with the proper tools,( Mag screed/ float, power trowel etc.) or check around other construction sites...

Well, today is the day to celebrate! I just got the inspector's autograph on the FINAL inspection... The garagemahal is, according to the county code dipstics, DONE. The final took less than 2 min. Both inspectors (mech/structural and electrical) showed up at the same time, looked at the inside...

    Getting stains off roof shingles

Down here in the swamp, we clean the roof twice a year(spring and fall) with pool chlorine and a garden sprayer. I usually just let the next rain wash it off. no stain survives a hot oxidizer wash. RED

    Amp Service

Get a look at the power bill, most list the service amperage, if not, call the utility co. and give them the service number or account number, they'll know for sure. RED

what is your benchtop of choice?

About 20 years ago, I built my wife a 4 X 8 quilting table, 2x4 frame, 1 inch marine ply top, covered with tempered masonite and 1/4 inch cork board. If she ever gives up quilting, I'm gonna have two 2 X 8 roll around benches, one with masonite and cork and one with 1/8 th aluminum. The only...
