So I got the auger back together and put some $20 00-oil in the gear case, but when I started it up the auger pulley was rubbing the auger belt tensioner arm. I'm thinking either I didn't tighten the auger pulley enough (did not caveman crank it) or maybe I installed it upside down? It does...

UPDATE: Thanks for all the help and as expected the bronze gear in the auger gear box was broken. New part from Ebay was $22.05 with free shipping. Gear box was full of brass filings and will require extensive cleaning with some brake cleaner maybe? Also, what type of grease is recommended...

I know I've seen some of these in commercial garages, but has anyone ever installed a "Man Door" in their Garage Bay door? Was it difficult, will it work on Foam/Aluminum doors as well as Wood ones? Do they make some kind of universal kits for these? Thanks, Chet

So I confirmed that none of the shear pins are broken, Impeller still works when auger handle is engaged. This all points to a bad gear inside the auger diff. No chance that this could be a broken belt?? Chet

Thanks guys, will break the gearbox open soon and get some answers. I think it's at least 5 years old so the warranty Is likely expired.

Affirmative on the impeller yes its working, but I'm not with the unit right now to do further testing.

So during a moderate snow the auger stopped working on this fairly new snow blower. Looked at the shear pins 1st and they are all intact. The auger will turn freely by hand (unit was off during test). I tightened the auger cable with no change so I think my next step is to look for a broken...
