Building a shop in a tight residential area?

Why dont you just find a closed down auto repsir shop to buy? Seems a lot easier to me.

Epoxy over a really old slab

My floor looks about like the 'baddest' picture on your website Fred! I'll try the plastic trick and see what happens. I have not considered racedeck due to the cost and i just generally dont like the idea of a plastic garage floor.

Epoxy over a really old slab

Hey thanks for the reply, is superceat water based? Does that even make a difference for breathability? As i said i fully understand this wont fix my floor and im certainly not expecting beautiful results. I'd be satisfied with a single color, and as you said the flakes will hopefully help hide...

Epoxy over a really old slab

It has a ton of cracks lol. It should really be replaced, but theres no way i can afford that right now so a little epoxy will make it tolerable for a few years. The garage/slab is about 90 years near as we can tell, which explains the super thin pour & no barrier etc. Keep in mind i have very...

Epoxy over a really old slab

Hi all, i want to epoxy my really old garage slab. Its only about 2" thick with no vapor barrier underneath. Im a bit worried about water vapor coming through the floor - think it would be okay with a solvent based epoxy or should i look into the water based ones? Thanks!

Problem floor - 100 years old!

Thanks! I built the doors with my father earlier in the spring. It was a lot of work, but well worth it! I know replacing the floor would be best, but because of the footing (or lack thereof) situation I would basically have to tear the whole garage down and start from scratch. That would be...

Problem floor - 100 years old!

So long story short I've got a problematic floor in my garage. I moved into this house about a year ago and have been working on the garage ever since - now I'm at the point that I can start working on the floor. Problem is it looks to be 3 or 4 different slabs, and as near as I can tell...

    Garage Doors Craftsman Style

Wouldn't that be like $25k? I just built 3 sets of double-carriage doors for my garage (6 doors total) out of Cedar. They actually look almost exactly like the doors in the first post, but are stained a lighter color. Just the wood and hardware alone cost almost $3k + over 100 hours of my...

    Carriage Style Doors

Prices for carriage doors are insane. I'm working on the plans for mine right now, just simple lap joints - nothing fancy. Wood shouldn't be too much, I'm looking for some old reclaimed wood right now, but will get new doug fir or cedar if I can't find any good reclaimed wood before too...

    Looking for Barn Lights

Which did you end up ordering? I've been very happy with my $35 lights - they don't have the gooseneck but aside from that they're basically the same as what you pictured. To be honest, It doesn't really bother me they don't have the gooseneck and just have a straight pipe instead.
