    Running power to detached garage

I managed to get TWHN #3 CU for .84 cents per foot per conductor (x3). That wasnt much pain...but the insulation, drywall and insulated garage door bill is going to hurt worse.

    Kenmoore Icemaker dead?

Let the thing catch up after 24hrs or so before you all harvest! Keeping freezer at a low temp helps too. Check your heating element and make sure its operational (Dont think about sticking fingers on it for fingertip test)! Owwwww

Run off house service or new service?

Is the house 1600sq ft or 4000 sq ft? If its closer to the smaller then I would put my money in the ground as wire instead of paying the power company a monthly neverending bill for the privilege of using their extra meter. Run a 100 or 125a service to the garage and subpanel at the barn.

    Running power to detached garage

Outstanding diagram Wylies! I understand what I need now and the why. Appreciate you all taking the time to explain it all even with references. I didnt think about the voltage drop being so less on the 240vac vs 120vac and the chart I had didn't go over 50a for 240vac (which I thought was odd...

    Running power to detached garage

Chart here shows 2/0? http://www.cerrowire.com/voltage-drop-table Can you reference a different chart? Why would I need 3 wire with a ground if I need ground rods at the garage? Would not the ground wire run from the sub panel at the garage to the new ground rod? Why is it that I need ground...

    Saws keep tripping breaker

You never put a Breaker in that is bigger than what the wiring it feeds. 20A-12ga 15A-14ga etc. Breakers are there to protect the wiring and your walls from fire. Check all of your connections (neutral and hots) at the breaker panel and at the outlets for all circuits that keep tripping. A...

    Sub panel

With all those heavy loads and some using motors (compressor, camper, lift) along with all running at once I would go the biggest available which is 200A. Do you really want to be messing with turning off equipment and resetting breakers and major **** shuffling when you can prevent it all from...

    Rented Garage needs heat...HAS CHIMNEY!

I run a pellet stove (Pelpro PP60) on one side of my house. Bought it at menards for around $800 iirc. I will be running a bigger version in my garage next winter once ive got power and insulation out there. The pellet stove is nice and mine has been great with no needed repairs for 3 years...

    Running power to detached garage

Ive really got a headache determining all of what I need. So much conflicting info out there. Detached garage sub panel (100a) will be 150ft from main panel (200a service) fed via a 240vac 100a double pole breaker. According to the charts Ive read I must use 2/0 copper for L1/L2/N to prevent...
