Started washing cars in a friend's father's Toyota dealership in Texas, ended up as factory trained ASCE Toyota/BMW/Mercedes mechanic. Worked on new cars for a living but only classic on my time. Guess I inherited love of old cars from my Dad. He had hundreds while I was growing up.
While in the midst of a bad divorce, my brother found me a house in Alabama that was owned by a former NASCAR mechanic. 1200 sq ft house, 4000 sq ft workshop and 4 car garage on 3 acres for less than I could build a metal building in Texas. Walk out a side door in the house straight into the workshop. Heaven on earth.
Now, he and I have opened a classic car restoration shop to supplement our social security and have a little fun building cars.
