Serial number with "Y" should be China as is "K". Sometimes they do add the COO by name, but not always. "E"...Japan "R"...Romania "G"...England/UK "A"...USA

In the case of Knipex I would assume that they are made in Germany. I have Knipex pliers where they stamp it three times to be made in Germany and others where the stamp is only to be found at the handle (apart from the packaging where it's always mentioned). Knipex Cobolt, Knips and plier...
