It appears you want to take out the post that supports the center beam of your house. Also, this post is located in about the middle of your proposed garage door area. You probably need something more than 3 2x10s.

I had some luck with sagging doors by removing the top hinge plate and driving a couple of 3" screws to try to pull the hinge side back. You can also cut some shims out of 3x5 cards or similar material and put them under the lower hinge plate.

If you have everything, you might as well try installing one of the doors. When it comes time to tension the spring, if you don't have the right tool or feel uncomfortable messing with it, then let it be. Once you get some tension on it, it can be very dangerous. On the other hand, you might...
