    Hitch Tubing Sizes

When I lived in Phoenix I went to Industrial Metal Supply. In their showroom they had some pre-cut 2" square tube marked for hitches. I also found some square tube in the drops for my Cruze's 1-1/4" receiver. IMS is one of the few things I really miss from Phoenix... their drops were so well...

How much torque do I need in an impact wrench for DIY work?

I have a related question: What size air hose do you need to properly run an impact wrench? My garage is small and I cannot find 25' half inch hose, which I suppose would imply 3/8" is sufficient. However, I already know my 1/4" - 50ft existing hose just isn't enough. It is nice for everything...

What Are Your Favorite Garage Gadgets?

I took this: http://a.co/0xqwrl3 And put it on this: http://a.co/2qLeT9F I now have a battery powered lamp that outputs serous light. The tripod is tippy but light and doubles as a handle. The whole setup is a few inches shorter than my Ranger's clearance when on stands, so I can move it...

Looking for lots of air on limited power

Eastwood's new screw compressor is $1500 right now and might help if money is an object. It is rated to 15A on 220V, and generates 12CFM. So far I've heard good things but it has only been on the market for a few months. https://www.eastwood.com/eastwood-qst-30-60-quiet-scroll-air-compressor.html

Crazy idea for a shop/garage/man house

If you are building a large garage you may want to spec it to accommodate an RV. I'm not sure if it is a popular hobby in NC but in Oregon there are a lot of lots with awnings/garages for the RV. For you it is a large garage, but maybe the next owner will want to park a large vehicle in it.

Metal Cutting Blade On Mitre Saw, Possible???

I've been happy with my Evolution saw (I also have the Rage3). I have had difficulty properly squaring the fence, but for the price I highly recommend it. My usage is as a hobbyist; I've cut 2x12" boards on it along with 2" angle iron. I've seen people put the Evolution blades in standard...

    Easily scrubbable walls? Removable panels?

Not quite pressure-washable, but I use these all over my garage: https://www.lowes.com/pd/47-75-in-x-7-98-ft-Smooth-White-Hardboard-Wall-Panel/3015239 They are cheap enough to be disposable, and very resistant to fluids. They also function as a dry erase board. I haven't lined my walls with...

    choosing an air compressor

For me it was the following: 1. Applications: As much as I would like to sandblast it would be the only high volume application I could see myself doing, so I decided my CFM requirements were medium/low 2. Power: While I have 240V available I wanted the versatility of 120V 3. Noise: Personal...

    Waterproofing block frost wall

I did this with my poured crawlspace when I added a french drain around the perimeter. In the roofing isle Henry's actually makes a foundation specific coating. It is roofing tar, but I think it has no fiber fill and maybe is less viscous. It took me an afternoon to brush it on. I only did one...

Knipex Pliers Wrench 5" or 7"

I'm a bit confused, are you thinking of the standard Cobra pliers? Adding "Wrench" in the subject threw me off. But, I always like to remind people of the budget option: Sears rebrands Knipex as Craftsman...

Is you have the Harbor Freight 10 inch Bench Table Saw do you like or recommen dit.

Budget "table saw": https://www.amazon.com/dp/B073PFYN4T/?tag=atomicindus08-20 I used mine a lot when building my shed. I even took less than quarter of an inch off for three cuts when I mis-measured my doors.

Pliers lust and where to buy them from?

I would check Sears also. I'm not sure about the bent pliers linked, but I know the standard Cobra Knipex pliers are rebranded as Craftsman and sold a few dollars cheaper than their red handled brothers...

What size for a fab table? Anything you wish you had done?

In my garage I have multiple benches that are 2'x4'. Because they are all the same size they but up next to each other quite nicely for a larger table, and I can screw down a large sheet of material on top if I really need a unified surface. Currently they are wood for weight/price, but there...

    Worktop - Nice or Cheap

It sounds like the decision has been made, but on my benches I build them a standard size of 2'x4' and will cut a sheet of OSB into 2x4 sheets. There is a decent bench top that I never see, and on top I screw down the OSB which gets changed out a couple times a year.
