    wattage calculator?

MMMMM...I used the wrong formulas when figguring out what size generator I needed for power outages.. I calculated a 5K would cover every I wanted to run.I went with a 6.5K that has(i think) a 500 watt surge. This explaines why it bogs down so bad when something like the boiler pump kicks in...

    beer fridge???

If it has a light built in just disconnect the plunger switch and connect the wire's to a toggle..Mine has a 40watt bulb I leave on during the winter. The heat from the bulb keeps it from freezing.

    wattage calculator?

My understanding is to get watts you take the Voltage x Amperage=Wattage Assuming 110V and 15amp breaker that would be 1650 watts..You should be able to run 16 100watts lights off that breaker.Or at 80% 13 100watt bulbs. If I am wrong please feel free to correct me because this is the...

Interesting idea for a garage heater

Interesting.. I use a 220,000 btu and a 35,000 btu slamanders(torpedos) for heat.I use them only a couple time a week.Normally the weekends. My ritual is to fire up the big unit to warm things up(220000btu's are over kill)then I use the 35K unit to maintain. If the 35K can't keep up I fire up...

    Makes no sense

Pending on the project it has been my experiance that the permit process is little more than a way to fill city/county coffers. Many will disagree, but I just do what I want.My garage has 220 100amp service. To do this I could have jumped through all sorts of hoops and paid many hands to get it...

    Property tax on finished garage's

Lone Tree,Ia.Johnson County..Property taxes are always a real sore subject here..We get nailed to pay for all those lovely improvments that help the U of I in Iowa City and ,but reap very few benifits..Good example:Our town has to pay the county for police protection from the county sherrifs...

3450 RPM air compressor motor always bad?

I have 2 3450rpm compressors and both are kind loud. If you motor will handle it you can put a larger pulley on your compressors motor and slow down the compressor.

    Property tax on finished garage's

Just a bit of a heads up. If your planning on finishing an attached garage you may want to take a trip to your Tax Auditors office. In many parts of the country a finished garage can be classified as "livable space" or a finished room and thus it's square footage counted as part of the...

    How safe is your garage?

I have a couple 10BC extinquishers. I try to do anything dealing with combustable liquids outside. Common sense goes along way's too..Found out the hard way to really clear a work area when using the grinder.Started a roll of paper towels on fire once not paying attention. Didn't hurt...

    Air Compressor Operating Temperature Range?

I have had problems with a couple 110v compressors popping a breaker on startup in very cold weather after they have sat idle along time..If I drain down the tank 1st it usually cures it..The oil(straight 30)gets pretty thick and the added load on startup pops a breaker. Letting it start on a...

Check and see if you have a Habitat for Humanities resell store near you..My wife drug me to the one close to our house..I was amazed by what they had.The building supplies such as shingles were so cheap it was hard to resist the impulse to buy the stuff just because it was so cheap.
