    Wood scraps

Those are some thick inlays! I've only ever made 1 or 2 cutting boards in my life, but I seem to remember using the mineral oil. The only inlays I've ever done were on this little triangle shaped table I made. They were only 1/8" thick, and no fun cutting into the base as I remember.

    Cool Tool Score!!! Dental Tools

My wife is a dental hygienist and brings some of the picks home when I ask. They are useful, but they are also very brittle and I've snapped the tips off pretty regularly just picking paint out of screws at work. But once shortened a little and resharpened to the shape you need, they work really...

    12 pt for aviation?

Working on corporate jets, commuters- I use both 6 and 12 pt. Most turbine engines have a majority of 12 pt. I've never rounded a 12 pt out, though I suppose it's possible. As previously mentioned, the 12 pt fasteners are pretty robust. Airframe components generally have 6 pt, but not always...

    LED Lighting

I've used many fluorescent lights in the past for my shop lighting. The problems I've had with them was poor cold weather start up, periodic winking and/or pulsing, and broken bulbs. I recently added 2 4' LED lights over my newly installed workbench. They were $65 apiece (HD), appear brighter...

    Welding help/advice, My first fab.

Im not sure if its true for mig, but I noticed with my tig, if I get too close to those magnetic clamps, the magnetic field causes the arc to bend. The mig arc is probably confined to the wire/puddle interface, but maybe the gas envelope when charged by the arc is bending? I quit using the...

snap on hard handle set question

Here's a #3 hard handle screwdriver I have at home in red P/N SDDP63. I have more at work, but won't be there until monday. All my Philips are red. I'm not sure a current catalog will help- They've changed their handle design.

Buy USA/Europe vs. Asian COO especially China?

Here's an aircraft mechanic's (and woodworker/metalworker’s) perspective- Since the quality of my performance at work is partially tied to the quality of the tools I use, I buy the best tools I can find for that environment, which almost always means Snap-on. The only HF tool I have at work is a...
