    Lifting experience

Bud- I have a pair of four-post lifts, the newer one an Atlas Garage Pro 8000 EXT purchased from Greg Smith last year. While I fully understand that the COO are China and Italy, the lift is the same design as many others on the market. Uprights, cross-bars, lock ladders, hydraulic pulling ram...

    Automatic air compressor drain valve

Mine came included with the Eaton Compressor I bought back in 2008. I just googled "automatic air compressor drain valve" and see that Northern Tool sells them, Grainger too. Very handy to have, just plugs into a 110V outlet, you can adjust how often and how long the valve opens. Place a...

Anyone use jacks on their 4-post lifts?

Very likely that they'll have a lift & jack assembled in their showroom. The NH location did. It's nice to be able to see & touch something you have questions about. Good luck!

Anyone use jacks on their 4-post lifts?

Yes, the "angles" as you call them are adjustable, by a LOT. My lift needed them to be at 37.5" to fit and slide freely. There is a set screw(bolt) with a lock nut to tighten when adjusted. If it makes you feel any better, Greg Smith sells for $595, looks like the OP linked to one selling for...

Anyone use jacks on their 4-post lifts?

I purchased an Atlas 4-post lift from Greg Smith Equipment back on March 7th. Picked it up myself in NH to avoid shipping issues, and just this past weekend I stopped back in to buy the RJ-35 jack like the one you link to. This thing weighs in at 350 pounds, has adjustments for lift width and...

Does anyone have pics of engines on stands?

Here's a Sunnex rotating engine stand, pricey but is super convenient! Try incorporating some kind of feature like that into a modded stand.

New take on tennis ball park assist

I'm using a motion-activated laser pointer device purchased thru Amazon. Didn't cost much, and works really well. I stop when the red dot aligns with a spot on my dash. Neat trick with the tennis ball though... :)

    Liftmaster Jackshaft Opener

Another Liftmaster 3800 fan here! I just added a 2nd 4-post lift, and had to remove the originally installed ceiling mount stuff, relocate the 110V outlet, and order a 3800 unit. I found one on Ebay for $309. Installed it myself. I now have two of them. Very nice openers.

    Liftmaster 3800

With a growing fleet of Chevelles, it came time to add a second 4-post lift in my workshop. Mostly for parking options, I will still use the original lift for my maintenance. Facing the same dilemma as the first lift placement, the original Overhead Door opener (Legacy model) was a traditional...

    Building a 40x60 6 car w/living area

Oh, my memory! The whole shop, including excavating, concrete, structure, wiring, lighting fixtures, overhead doors, stain, roofing, finished bathroom, sheetrock & paint came in at a total of $125,000. I know this figure might seem high, but I did no labor myself. It was totally subbed out to...

    Building a 40x60 6 car w/living area

Brent- Start designing a floor plan in Microsoft Excel. Very helpful. I built a 30x74 5-bay shop using free span I-joists and no posts at all. The floor deflection upstairs is almost not noticable. Here's a link to my GJ build thread...

    Which auto darkening helmet?

Do you live near a Tractor Supply or Northern Tool? They sell Hobart welding equipment, auto-darkening helmets too. I love my Hobart helmet.

Work on the 74 x 30 5-bay garage has begun!!!!

House was started in March 2008, and we moved in on April 15, 2009. There's a whole bunch of construction pictures on my '71 Pro Touring Chevelle website, just scroll down the left side of my main page and click on the links to Log Home Construction Pictures, divided out by month. Linky...

    Airline (pipe) hangers

www.grainger.com has hardware you need for wall mounting BIP. Visit their website and search "black iron pipe hangar" and then "rod hangar plate". You will see split ring hangars for 3/4" pipe, and wall mounting plates under both of these search terms. A common thread for these is 3/8", which...
