Is chainsaw the top 5 dangerous power tools?

Once everything has been "idiot-proofed", all that will be left are the idiots.

    The VISES of Garage Journal

I haven't used Greyhound for shipping for at least 15 years, but I used them many times in the past to ship large, awkward classic car parts. I stopped using them after they "lost" a NOS '70 Challenger fender, only to inform me that the insurance that was included in the shipping fee only covers...

    Best Dremel/Rotary Tool

Gotta disagree 100%. I do custom restoration work for a living. Right now I have 3 Foredoms hanging at my bench, A TX, LX, and an SR. I have just about every attachment that is made for them including the 90 degree handpiece that spins rolocs. Also have the belt sander, speed multiplier...

    Best Dremel/Rotary Tool

A Foredom is a Ferrari and a Dremel is a rusty bicycle with 2 flat tires. Using a Foredom tool once will open your eyes as to exactly how bad the Dremel junk is.

    Old Taft Peirce Machinist/Toolmaker Gizmo

Thanks. I pretty much had assumed that it was obsolete and pretty much useless. Was just curious as to what it was.

    Old Taft Peirce Machinist/Toolmaker Gizmo

Anybody got any idea what the hell this thing is? it's an older Taft Peirce tool. It has a plate on it with a part number of 12-1959-876 but nothing turns up in searches. I got it mixed in with a hoard of machinist tooling. It has a weird plug that I assume plugs into some type of "reader", or...

    New (Old) Tool! Meet Beverly...

Beverly Shear's customer service is out of this world. Totally "old School". They will jump through hoops for you. I've rebuilt/restored dozens of shears and have gotten parts from them many times. You have to call and order parts directly with the receptionist there. The website doesn't work...

    New (Old) Tool! Meet Beverly...

I guess it all depends on what your time is worth. You could possibly end up dickin' around with those blades for hours, and still end up needing to buy a new set. I would just bite the bullet and get a new set. Then you essentially have a brand new B-3 that should last for years unless some...

    Leveling up from a Dremel

Foredom. Hands down. I use 4 of them daily professionally. Once you use a Foredom tool you will throw any Dremel tools that you own in the trash. A Dremel is a toy compared to a Foredom, a really ****** toy at that.

Blue Point Body Hammer with a 24" SO handle

Talk about leverage. With a full swing you could make a dent that a body hammer couldn't fix.

    Mill

Exactly. Making a decent part on an inferior machine has more to do with skill and ability than the machine itself. If you lack talent, it's easier to blame the tool for poor results.

    Valve stem core remover

Found these old tins the other day. The Schrader tin is minty, and filled with valve cores.

Am I insane for thinking this is cool?

It's not as dangerous as it looks. I'm 99% sure that it's a wooden foundry block, and not an iron gear. I've got a ton of them in all shapes and sizes. They were used as pattern forms to make molds for iron casting. it probably weighs less than 30 lbs.

    Craftsman 6" lathe

Nice machine. these are awesome little lathes that are very capable of doing precision work within their limitations. I have owned and used several of them over the years. I have a 618 that I use almost daily out in my shop. I have a larger 10" Logan 820 that I use also, but I still do a lot of...
