    Motorcycle lift table

Go with the heavier one. You won't regret it because you will find so many other uses for the lift. Minor mods and additions and you can lift your riding mower, snowthrower, and every other heavy thing you have to a comfortable working height. The wheel vises are generally useless, there are...

New harbor freight welding/fab table 59403

The whole online thing. That way I would reduce the $200.00 worth of "impulse" that I always seem to walk out of the store with when I only went in there for one $20.00 item.

shrink crimps, butane soldering iron vs. heat gun?

^^^^THIS. I've had one of these for thirty years and it's been my go to. Enough heat to shrink, precise, controlled.

Tools you always had but never used

Call it insurance! Kind of like my snowblower; if I clean the plug, change the oil, start it and tune it to get it ready for winter... no snow ever falls. Leave it in the back of the shed un-prepared for the flakes flying we get two feet for the first snowfall.

    Mask storage?

Plastic Folgers coffee cans. Respirator fits in it nicely and keeps it clean when stored. I even keep replacement filters in the bottom of it. Learned it from an old timer back when coffee still came in metal cans.

    3/8" Socket Spinners!

originally it was the clear, blue, red of a Craftsman driver and the handle was the classic shape. As I said, though, the Skydrol took most of the coloring off of it along with the markings that were in the handle so it's probably not a Craftsman. I had assumed it was, not paying any attention...

    3/8" Socket Spinners!

I have two 3/8" handles. One is of unknown, Japanese origin that I acquired from a guy selling tools out of the trunk of his car back in '78. The other is , I thought, a very old Craftsman based on handle design and what's left of the coloring. It, unfortunately, got soaked in Skydrol, which is...

Benefit of a 2nd Drill Press?

That's me. I, more or less, set up my old benchtop DP as a half assed mill using an XY table and modifying the depth stop to set and hold the head. For my purposes it works and I don't have to re set it all up again every time I need it.

    Old Bed Frame Projects!!!

since this thread started the price of steel has skyrocketed. I needed a piece of 2" angle and, for once, I had no old bedframes around the shop. Called my local steel house. Nearly $80 for an 8' piece. I'll be watching on trash day for some stock.

    Between 485 & 705 SQ/FT trailer trash shops

To build his first shop, many years ago, my brother made a deal with a local farmer to tear down what was left of an old barn. Between the lumber from that and an old single wide he already had on his property he built a pretty good sized shop. Only cash in it was for hardware and wiring. Do...

    Your first cordless drill?

About '87 got a Craftsman 9.6 that I used until about ten years ago when I couldn't rebuild the batts anymore (retention tabs had broken off, batts kept falling out. Bought a Panasonic 9.6 in '89 or '90 and it was a great drill. Still have it and the charger but batts are hard to find so it's...

Tools You Wish You’d Bought In the Past

A long time ago Craftsman had a set of electronic tools. Blue handled screwdrivers and pliers made for working on 50's and 60's era electronics. My Dad had a set of them for working on the early computers, as in the mainframe occupied an entire floor of the building. There were some...

Battery Chainsaws - What do you like?

Just to put the info out there; I recently decided to give a battery chainsaw a try. I don't need a chainsaw often and it's usually a fight to get any of the three gas saws I own to start after sitting for too long. Throw in my destroyed shoulder and it ends up I spend more time messing with...
