I always liked the "There are many who confine themselves to criticism of the way others do what they themselves dare not even attempt" part. So much easier to criticize others when your own inaction is what you rely on to never face failure.

What did you do "IN" your garage today?

I bought some wheels a while back that are not quite the right offset for my car. I had the mating surface machined and then started playing with the alignment a little (camber) to see how close I'm getting to having these fit correctly. I think some aftermarket control arms and lowering springs...

2024 Garage Sale Thread (13th Annual)

Spent a few bucks snagging some USA-made Nicholson and Simonds files on the cheap (a buck or two each); however, some need some cleanup. I don't know why I need this many files.... For size reference, the Proto chisel on the far right is 8". The transfer punch set in the top right was $5 and...

2024 Garage Sale Thread (13th Annual)

No garage sales specifically, but all second hand sales (Goodwill, ReStore, etc.) 1. Found the staple gun in the upper left for $2 at a Goodwill around a month or so ago, came in the original box with the original parts diagram/warranty information. Gone are the days of dinky staples; made...

What did you do "IN" your garage today?

Discovered the $250 regulator I replaced was not the source of my issues on my TIG welder... :/ Funny thing is I looked this hose over when I was having some small gas supply issues and don't recall seeing this; perhaps I missed it as this would have been on the underside of the hose on the...

    GTR Restoration and Build

I got started building my dolly on Friday and finished up on Saturday. I think altogether, I spent about 8-10 hours building this thing. It's pretty damn sturdy, at least it feels like it is, but I'm sure loading it on a trailer and moving it somewhere will be the real test. I ended up building...

    GTR Restoration and Build

I was going to wait until tomorrow to start working on the dolly, but figured I'd get a head start by getting the front caster mounts welded to the crossmember, and then mounting the casters themselves. Tomorrow I'll work out the uprights and the bracing. Finished product below. The welds...

Tool Brands you cannot stand . . .

May catch some flack here, but Milwaukee power tools. People churched them up so much, I expected a borderline heavenly experience when I bought one. But, I still prefer my DeWalt stuff. The only reason I can't stand them is because of how people rave about them, despite them being on par with...

Fortunately, I was able to save the factory rivets. They're plastic and I was able to remove them without damaging them. Thank you for the info on the tubing sizes. That helps confirm what I have been seeing on manufactured dollies.

    GTR Restoration and Build

So, I'm back on the project, I stripped the car down in preparation for a chemical dipping. At this time, I just need to remove the front and rear subframes; however, I can't do that until I build a dolly for the car to sit on. For those of you with experience with car dollies, please advise me...

To answer what the back looks like... I started on the right and moved left on the bead side. Pics in the following order: 1) Beads before cleaning, 2) Back before cleaning, 3) Beads after cleaning, 4) Back after cleaning. Tips?

The back is stringers now, I welded on both sides. Before I welded the second side, though, the back was showing discoloration, and the scale (believe that's the correct word) was burned/flaked off where the stringers were laid. I'll keep practicing and show pictures of the backside next time...

I took a welding class in high school and have only sporadically dabbled since then, tack welds mostly/basically. Decided it was time to start doing some self-learning, plus, I have a project coming up that I'll be doing on my own. The images below are my two first days back at it, one side per...

    Show your new tool arrivals

Was checking out the tool section while my wife perused an estate sale store today. Found this little Greenfield (USA made) t-handle tucked away in a can down low. So added it to the pile and got it for a buck ($20 online it seems). So, I can finally stop using a socket on my small taps... :ROFLMAO:
