Property is a few hundred acres. the largest project will be grading a ~1mi drive largely up a hillside. My understanding is as long as I have internet (which I do) I can access a "second receiver" via the RTK network. There are 4-5 sites in the county. Not sure what the maximum distance is to...
I'm in south east Montana and would describe everything I'm trying to do in the DIY category. Any legitimate surveying needed I would pay a professional to do.
Yeah, I know it's new. I believe they sell a 40v multitool in Australia, so I was hoping it would make it to the US in time for me to continue delaying a second battery type.
Does anyone, by chance, have experience with this device: https://emlid.com/reachrs/
For $799 it's pretty compelling compared to the $5k-$10k+ for Leica and Trimble. I would be interested in surveying my own property as well as using it for grading driveways and sites.
Thanks!
I really want one of those! I'm on the makita 40v platform and I'm disappointed at the rate of which they are rolling out new tools.
Also, I ended up cutting an outer ply and I'm thankful I did so. About half of the columns were overglued. It would have been a real chore to try to get just...
I wasn't going to DIY the columns. They're laminated and milled and they do some fancy joinery to make the bottom 7' out of pressure treated wood. I think I'm going to stick with an offset truss by one ply.
I have a truss conundrum and I'm curious if anyone has any advice. As I mentioned I'm slavishly copying Kyle's building methods, but I wasn't able to source the same kind of columns that he uses.
The columns in all his builds are like this:
They all have a center notch where you place the...
Hey folks, thanks for the feedback. A lot of the work I do using my vacation time, otherwise it's mornings and weekends. Also I'm skeptical that anyone would want to watch a video of me on onlyfans or otherwise! I certainly don't have the extra hands to man the camera or the time to edit it, so...
I just ticked over 40 hours on the mini! I will not be taking questions on whether this implies I have many chores for it or if I'm just really inefficient.
Today was concrete! Pretty stressful and one extra pair of hands would have made it a lot easier but we got it did. The trucks had a really hard time not getting stuck and tore of the pasture pretty good, so I'll probably try and grade that a little bit later today.
The second truck driver was...
As is true most places in the country, utilities and trades are really backed up. I haven't been able to get primary power brought onto the property and I finally got frustrated enough to do something about it. Fortunately, my neighbor has 3-phase 480v about 100' from the property line. He uses...
My mini was getting a little lonely so we were able to find it a friend. The excavator is objectively more fun to twirl around and try to use, but this thing is a straight up *monster*.
Speaking of new friends, we have a flock of turkeys that comes by a couple times a day to check in on us...
