Mitsubishi Kumo Cloud adds nice features to system

I am in Southern Maryland. The building has R-21 in the walls and R-38 blown in the ceiling. The plan is to keep it 50* in the winter and 78* ish in the summer. The Kumo Clouds cost me about $150 each installed. I can independently control each or control all three units. So far they have been...

Mitsubishi Kumo Cloud adds nice features to system

The hand held remotes which come with the units limit you to 61* as a low set point for the heat. The Kumo Cloud allows you to take them down to 50*. Yes, open the app and you can control any one of the units individually or control them as one large unit. Yes, you can program each unit...

    A/C for a 70 x 96 - Multiple Mini-Splits?

Are your units Mitsubishi? With the add on Kumo Cloud, you can lower the set point to 50 degrees. I just started a thread, as no one told me this until I already added them. It was a nice surprise!

Mitsubishi Kumo Cloud adds nice features to system

Just installed (3) 36,000 M series Mitsubishi mini-splits in my 40x104x18 shop. I had the installer (who was an amazing company to deal with) install kumo cloud devices on all three units. Hand held remotes allow you to take the heat down to 61* which was not ideal, but I was going to deal with...

    Torpedo heater in pole barn

I thought it was just me, but I think diesel has less smell and fumes as well. I bought one and tried 10 gallons of Kerosene and then tried 10 gallons of on road ultra low sulfur diesel and the smell is substantially less with diesel. Easier to find and almost half the cost around here. Diesel...

1 1/2" horizontal PVC conduit hangers on pole barn

Lower portion of the metal outside of the building. The ribs prevent you from using the proper size conduit strap. For 1 1/2" conduit, 2" are too small and 2 1/2" are too big.

1 1/2" horizontal PVC conduit hangers on pole barn

I am running conduit along the bottom of the shop. The shop is finished on the inside. There are 2x4 nailers every 2’ running horizontally. The pic is of the ribs, which run vertically and are approximately 3/4” tall.

1 1/2" horizontal PVC conduit hangers on pole barn

Would rather stick with some sort of PVC, as it will be outside and exposed to the elements. Has anyone used these before: http://www.aimedia.co/media/spec-sheets/QUICKLATCH.pdf

1 1/2" horizontal PVC conduit hangers on pole barn

How do you attach 1.5" conduit horizontally on standing seem (3/4" high ribs). 2" hangers are too short and 2.5" are too long. Need to attach about 100' of horizontal conduit. Thanks,

Mini Splits in a large shop???

Well the cost estimates have come in. The best one so far is 3 30k BTU Mitsubishi M series units installed for $11.5k. Good deal? Will they work and do what I want?

Mini Splits in a large shop???

Perdue, Awesome build thread. I think we may be brothers from another mother, as you would be surprised at the similarities of our buildings. I am not sure where you are but my current motorhome came from a buddy in New Palestine, IN. My last was 40x80x18 with a 15’ liento down the 80’ side...

Mini Splits in a large shop???

I like the redundancy. What brand are you using/suggesting? How big of a building are you using your system in? I see you are in Florida, what temp are you cooling it to and how bad of an electric bill are you experiencing in the summer with them.

Mini Splits in a large shop???

I will check and see if the models specified go below 61*. With the efficiency that much better than oil (which I am used to) maybe I can afford to keep it 61* as long as I keep my paddle fans blowing the heat down from the ceiling. Several contractors have indicated I did not need the hyper...

Mini Splits in a large shop???

I hate to take a $10K gamble on it working. I am glad to see efficiency wise, that it's a smart choice. No NG near me, so that is not even an option. The environment is not what I would consider a dusty/dirty environment. Occasional welding, cutting with a torch or cutoff wheel. I will try...
