    220v 40 amp to 15amp

If it gives you heartburn put a 6" #12 pigtail on each end of the #8 and use a 20 amp breaker and receptacle. Actually, the QO220 Square D breakers are rated to a single #8 wire at the terminal, so you only need the pigtail at one end. I personally would have no problem running the larger breaker.

how do I wire this up?

You need a pair of diodes, maybe 20 to 50 PIV and 5 amps (Radio Shack 276-1661). Connect the Cathodes together to one wire that runs to the light bar. The Anodes go one to each turn signal light on the truck.

    Various Workshop Wiring Questions

The breaker protects the wiring, not the device. You can put a 5 amp device at the end of a 50 amp circuit. As long as the wiring is rated for the size of the breaker protecting it.

Can i Wire and install EMT like this ?

How long is the conduit from your panel to the box? If less than 2 feet it is a ****** and does not need derating of the conductors. In addition you can fill the conduit to 60%.

I didn't see any reference to the compressor wiring going through the switch/outlet box.

    Underground from house to shop

Lightning strikes on underground cabling is no joke. My shop is about 300 feet from the house. Since this about the limit for Ethernet over copper (~100m) I pulled a 100m MM fiber duplex jumper. I run a gigabit between the main switch at the house and a distribution switch in the shop. This...

Can i Wire and install EMT like this ?

Yes, my understanding is you can use the panel as a "raceway" for this circuit. The multiple conductors in a conduit limit is related to the number of current carrying conductors. You are allowed three current carrying conductors before derating. All the neutrals on the same circuit are...
