Something that I didn't know until recently is that Oregon has a massive line of power equipment parts. Saw chain & bars is what they're known for but just a fraction of what they do.
Once upon a time, NAPA branded tools were made by Armstrong & high-quality USA-made. The Carlyle stuff they sell today is so so & imported junk just like every other parts store is selling.

The fact is that sockets do crack & break. Tekton warranty is easy peasy, GP not soo much.
I have a lot of GP sets & will NEVER buy another one. Nothing worse than having to buy replacements because the warranty is such a pain & basically nonexistent.
That stack of three is relatively new judging by the tubular locks. The last new Snap-on box I purchased was in 2007 & they were still using wafer locks.
The closest current equivalent would be the "heritage series"

Never had it do that. I use it until it quits working. I had a bucket that was so weak I had to leave stuff in it for 4 or 5 days to work its magic.
Contaminated is the only thing I can think of.
Did you try washing that rainbow off?
