    Retaining Wall Advice

We are not attempting to make it level, as it would required more like a 5’ wall to accomplish that. We are just wanting to minimize the angle of the slope quite a bit because it is very steep to mow, and even though there is grass, the soil is washing away causing the slope to get worse over...

The max wall height will be about three feet. And, we live outside the city limits in an unincorporated area. There are no codes.

It is on the side of the house that faces our next door neighbor. And some of it can be seen from the street as well. When I say decorative, I just don't want plain smooth looking blocks like cinder blocks. I'm just talking about something similar to what Drivesitfar used, just not curved.

So, one of the contractors wants to build a solid wall (~ 80’ x 3’) out of CMU blocks (cinder blocks). Basically cinder blocks mortared together and then filled with rebar and mortar. It would be back filled with rock to allow for drainage and have drain holes. It will also have a drainage pipe...

Here are some pics of the incline. The pics don’t really represent how steep it really is.

We have not received a quote from either of the two companies yet. We also still have others coming out soon.

Some good ideas here for sure, thanks. As far as dirt goes, we are going to need a ton of dirt to back fill and bring the yard up to where it needs to be. The builder had to construct a pretty tall pad for our house, so its going to take a lot of dirt to pull this off.

The other side of the wall will be where a shallow trench is between us and our neighbor. It’s already partially filled with large rocks because water flows through during rain fall and we were losing soil and had standing water. We will just have a liner and more rock placed down the full...

    Retaining Wall Advice

It appears that the first guy wants to build a CMU wall (about 85 linear feet) with filled block cores and vertical and horizontal rebar. All on a concrete footing with piers every 18” or so. Perf drain pipe at the bottom with drainage gravel wrapped in filter fabric. The wall would then be...

    Retaining Wall Advice

There is someone in our neighborhood that did a small wall like this on one side of their house. We will be looking at something more refined like a light colored block with a textured face. This style will match our house.
