    Let's See Your Garage Dog

I was owned by a Toller, lost him just over two years ago and still miss him. They are terrific dogs. Kip was a great shop dog too.

    Crescent wrench directional arrow

Ahhhhggg that is the only thing that infuriates me about shifters, all the other shortcomings I can work around. I have a set of Swedish Bahco ergo from 4" to 15" but the 10" is from spain and the thumb wheel on that one is bass ackwards. Sometimes wonder if I should recommission Dads set from...

    Date Needed. Fordson Tool Box

I've owned a pair of Fordson E27N tractors but my memory isn't sharp enough to be accurate, I think this box could be from one of that model. The Majors I've seen had a flat lid on the box (no branding). All of the Fordsons I've come across had manual crank handle or electric start, I think the...

Safety tips for running a vehicle on jackstands.

Tie a small rope to the coil lead and back to something solid in the garage, If it does launch off the stands at least it will kill the engine. Just my .02

Noob that needs wisdom from members

One way to start is a big sheet of grid paper to show scaled floor plan of the garage and scaled cutouts of your main pieces of gear, benches, saws, grinders etc and shuffle them around on the grid until you like the fit and remaining clear work space. A wall covered with full height cupboards...

    Ok, what is this?

My WAG is this tool is for holding a pressed in button to keep ya fingers clear of the press. Think of the Levis jeans fly buttons. The recess on the anvil holds one side of the button, the fingers hold the other side and the press works between them. Just guessing

What's a good woodworking project for this old wide board lumber?

Dowry chest? Any brides to be in the family? I have a few lengths of 2ft x1in 15 to 20' long boards (unknown species) that came from the family run service station down the street when they had their clearing auction. The timber was stored there for 1 or 2 generations from when they were a...

Should I buy a Skid Steer?

Yes, even though on 1/4 acre you'll be bumping fences. I have 1.5 ac with 0.5 ac accessible with the skid steer. It came with 4 in 1, trencher and post hole digger. Bought fork lift attachment and just fabbed a lift jib/trailer tow bar. Currently the forks are#1 tool for it. Having my own, I...

Enormous Shaper Vise of Unknown Age or Origin

I have seen a few of those come up at swap meets etc. I believe the gear set on them was to drive a drill press and/or grinder, occasionally see the accessories. You will probably get more answers in the "vices of garage journal" thread.

    Sandblast cabinet help

I have a smaller cabinet with a lift up lid and use a cheap gun with the air "trigger" and the media pick up is a rubber hose dropped through the mesh platform, I leave the hose loose and very shallow in the grit so I can move it around WHEN it plugs up. I'm not familiar with the gun or air...
