    I had to ask the same question cause that thing is hard to get off for sure. It is regular threaded(lefty loosey) turn the nut counter clockwise to get it off. Mine was on so tight I had to make a tool out of a socket and use an air wrench. Other than that the rebuild goes really easily.

    I successfully completed the rebuild on my jack today. Fun project and nice to have it working again. so far no leaks and can hold the back of the full size gmc pickup off the ground and doesn't leak down like it did before the rebuild.
