    Another DoAll Band Saw rebuild/repair

NC Rick Before I laid the saw down on my trailer I removed the table (4 bolts) to keep it from carrying weight and possibly breaking. It weighs between 50 and 75 Lbs. The motor is also a heavy 3-phase anchor. Removing those items makes it easier to move.

    Another DoAll Band Saw rebuild/repair

Not having an orbital I used my 4" belt sander. My brother has a table saw with a rusty table, was aksing how to clean it. I told him to sand it. He said he would oil it and sand with oil. I explained that with the oil, you will not be able to see what is still rusty. Do it dry and you won't...

    Another DoAll Band Saw rebuild/repair

One of my limiting factors for a bigger saw (something like a 36") is the height. They are about 8' tall. I'd have to put the machine in my garage and while I have a door that is 8' high, the bottom of the door is still just below the top frame. I guess I could manually crank the door above it...

    Another DoAll Band Saw rebuild/repair

OccupantRJ I've seen those pulleys and it should be a simple task to make the pulley system. Never having seen a saw in use, I was wondering what the foot pedal was for. NOW I know. Instead of a chain I think I'll use a piece of 1/16" cable.

Rick The footprint is about 30 inches square. The height is about 76". The weight, if I remember correctly on the HGRINC.com ad was about 540 Lbs. They laid it down onto my snow mobile trailer and when I got it home I used my skid loader to offload it. I stood it up and set it inside the...

    Another DoAll Band Saw rebuild/repair

You're probably right and I will more than likely keep this one. However, I WOULD like to find one of those "work holding jaw assemblies" so I can feed stock thru the blade consistently.

    Another DoAll Band Saw rebuild/repair

In that I knew nothing about it, I took a $400 gamble on it. I bought it from an industrial broker (hgrinc.com) here in Ohio but since I have always wanted a large bandsaw, I decided to take the risk. Pulled my snow mobile trailer to Cleveland (about 200 miles) and had them lay it down on its...

Why do Germans love Torx so much?

Go to wikipedia and search for TORX. There are a number of ADVANTAGES of Torx over allen. Once you read the descriptions you will learn to LOVE Torx. I've had WAY TOO MANY allens strip out and learned several new curse words. I'm not sure if the pic I (tried to) attached comes thru but the pic...

    Another DoAll Band Saw rebuild/repair

It's always interesting seeing other's projects and I kept thinking I'm glad I don't have to restore a saw like Brent and APMechanic have done. Yeah, right. I bought a DoAll SFP16 last month. As you can see it looks like the shop "stored" it on their loading dock for a few years. It has plenty...

I found that to be interesting, too.

    Show me your vertical bandsaw

I recently bought this 16" DoAll bandsaw. Old and ABUSED ! Oh, did I mention NEGLECTED ? Looks like it's been sitting on a loading dock for about 5 years. Needs some work to get it going. Transmission is 2-speed but doesn't shift. I'm working on that now and will be posting another thread...
