    my electric furnace knowledge is limited,but that type usually heats one stage at time.When calling for heat the next stage comes in after a given run time.If thermostat is not satisfied third stage can be activated.Cool down is just the opposite.After warm up first stage is usually all that needed.

    I have a lift that is very similar. Your leakage is very minimal. You need to remove the top of your hoist,then the gland ring to tell which type of seal you have. Mine had a series of packings divided by neoprene rings. I was able to purchase the packing from a local cylinder repair co.

    Removing an old inground car lift

    If you lift the whole assy you can check the outside for rust etc before working on seperating the cylinder from casing.After removing the super structure, a couple of chokers around the cyl assy will allow you to lift unit with out spilling oil.Lay assy down slowly to catch oil from the cyl.
