Pica Dry Pen - Yay or Nay

The 2.8mm lead size is a deal breaker for me as there are lots of construction grade mechanical pencil/lead options at 2.0mm. For fine lines I'll use 0.5mm. I also use Sharpie markers and am looking at getting some pressurized uni-ball Power Tank pens right now. These pens can write upside...

    JIS screwdriver bits

Attached is the tip dimensions for JIS-B4633, which is obsolete. It actually references ISO-8764 and the differences are that the JIS spec allows a greater deviation in dimensions. What this means is that most modern "Philips" or cross drivers/bits that conform to ISO-8764 also conform to...

    Who uses US steel?

There are many formulas for making steel and many ways of categorizing them: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Steel_grades There are a lot of overlaps in the different standards so the equivalent grade can be obtained from many places, which is good for a robust and competitive supply chain. Steel...

    Does such tool existed?

I've used impact sockets and soft faced hammers before to take out bearings.

What is the latest on the new Stanley tool plant in TX?

That’s the key: you really just pay once and get replacements no questions asked. So what was once a sound financial decision morphed into a cult, much like SPAM. I have a Craftsman ratchet set from the 80’s given by my FIL, and frankly it’s junk compared to the mainstream consumer sets...

Thanks, figured I was intending to use it for something else.

    Tools of Japan

I bought these without a clear understanding of what they were intended for, but I thought they would serve to mark/punch. I'm hoping someone with an understanding of Japanese language/techniques may help: https://www.amazon.co.jp/gp/product/B00N3N234C/

Here's another one, what's your favorite 1/4 ratchet?

Newer ratchets are getting smaller and stronger so there is lots of overlap between 1/4" and 3/8" drives. The older, traditionally sized 1/4" ratchets are relatively less useful but good enough for easy jobs, but I prefer to carry the newer, much smaller 1/4" bit and socket ratchets.

    Intermediate Phillips Sizes?

There are multiple "cross recess" designs but what you are noticing is likely just that the Philips recess screw was a very bad idea. Here are some things to keep in mind: Screws of wildly differing head sizes may use the same Philips drive size. For example, small 1/4" long screws in...

    Tekton Customer Service

I'm a fan of Tekton tools too, but I'd like to say that I deal with quite a few good companies, in part because I stop buying from any company that does not provide good service. That's free market forces at work and its a good thing: good companies thrive, bad companies fail.

    PB Swiss Tool - C6 or E6

SK11: https://www.amazon.co.jp/gp/product/B00CRC2HEQ/ Anex and Vessel are other suppliers. You have to have low profile ratchets/holders for these short bits to take advantage of them.

    Tools of Japan

Factory Gear doesn't ship overseas: https://translate.google.com/translate?sl=ja&tl=en&u=https://ec.f-gear.co.jp/ext/guide_top.html I find buying from amazon Japan to be the easiest/safest/cheapest method for most stuff. Note where/who it is shipped from as you want to group multiple items...

    PB Swiss Tool - C6 or E6

Well, I was likely drunk at the time :) Let me try again... PB Swiss makes C6 bits in the common 25mm length and not in other lengths as far as I know. I have found other lengths to be useful: 12 to 19mm used with bit ratchets in tight spots and 30 to 35mm bits used with some stubby drivers...
