Gas furnace does ok. Better than a mini split would. Can I ask why you've ruled out radiant/in floor heating? Best thing I ever did. I keep my shop at 55 all winter up in MN.
I built mine outta some salvage yard 1" plate I bought by the pound and some CAD drawings I found online. Uses ProTools dies. Had it a few years now and run thousands of feet of tube through it.

I'm a fan of a liberal application of starting fluid (ether) inside the tire, then toss in a match or touch it with a torch. Stand back when you do this if you like your eyebrows though! :)
