Starting a "like new" - 25 year old generator

Well I have it running great now but as some of you predicted, it doesn't seem to be generating any current. I tried to "flash" it will a small electric drill but that didn't seem to do anything. I think the main circuit breaker may be tripped but I can't seem to reset it. It's a...

Starting a "like new" - 25 year old generator

Got a spare battery and some 2 stroke oil but haven't had a chance to clean out the old gas. I promise updates though!

Starting a "like new" - 25 year old generator

Thanks guys. As soon as I get some help to get it out of the van, I will follow your helpful advice and see if we can get this thing fired up.

Starting a "like new" - 25 year old generator

This generator has been sitting unused in my folks garage for about 25 years. It has 1.8 hours on it - probably from its initial test run. What would you guys do in order to assure a safe start up? Is there an overhead valve train on this type of motor that might want to be oiled before...

    Tools of Japan

Lots of the fasteners on my stock KTMs are dual drive - broached for internal torx with hex heads. Most of them are low torque application but it's nice to have two options for tooling when working on the trail. The broaching of the traditional hex head does make them lighter but stock ones...

Plomb tool picture thread - show your stuff!

Finally found a bottom box locally to park under my top box. Haven't had a chance to research if these are a decent match for one another but at least they were both once red!

    Anyone recognize this old coldsaw?

I think you're right Cobbler. The current model single phase single-speed machines seem to run a 1700rpm motor into the machine's gear box so could probably just fit up a new 1725rpm flange mount motor with the right shaft if I had to.

    Anyone recognize this old coldsaw?

Thanks Gents! looks like it might be an older version of the D-350. I think the electrical short is intermittent so hopefully just a switch or cord issue. I'll check it out in the morning!

    Anyone recognize this old coldsaw?

Have a appointment in the morning to go see this saw. It's $100 but needs work. Clamps are obviously pneumatic not hydraulic as stated. Wondering if it is a quality saw that would be worth the effort to repair. Anyone recognize the brand or better yet, model? Thanks. From Seller: This...

    I can't believe I have to ask this......oil question

Thanks everyone for the great suggestions. Can you believe that not everyone has recommended the same thing? I assumed that a "what oil" thread would certainly lead to a singular and obvious consensus. ;) Bill - thanks for pointing out that they are still in business under the name...

    I can't believe I have to ask this......oil question

I have made it 11 years without ever having to ask an oil question but here we are today and I have one for you. Technically this for a friend so perhaps this doesn't count against my flawless "no oil" question history;). Buddy of mine picked up this cute little tool post grinder and I am...

Losing my mind--can anyone help id this piece?

looks like the sawdust deflector that mounts vertically inside the saw between the blade and you crotch would be the best way to describe it. The indented section is relieved for the blade elevation screw

My mom just finished up a project she started 32 years ago. I think next time she comments on how long some of my projects take, I should remind her of this;). Have a wonderful Mother's Day everyone...
