1960's Black & Decker Meal Shears - Proper Oil Viscosity for Cam Assembly?

I had an older model 16 and commented on RTM's linked thread. I don't know the original spec oil from the manufacturer. Straight 30wt was super common as a general purpose oil back then and given that these were industrial level tools, your oil choice should be fine too. Likely that most in...

    The First Airbrush

Wow, that one is a first for me. I used to subcontract making the airbrush bodies for Badger Air brush. Made 10's of thousands of them for the shop next door that did the secondary finishing work for Badger. Nothing modern looks anything like that one! Pretty cool stuff there.

Post up your Powr-Kraft and other Wards tools

A pair of long scissors, MW Co. Lakeside. Not the best quality I have seen, but a decent long set. Fairly uncommon find for me.

Plomb tool picture thread - show your stuff!

Actually, seeing that catalog listing now, I am not sure? I always used that style with Leather Burr Rivets for driving the washer on the stud and then doming the stud nub after trimming. I didn't even realize there was a larger selection of them. I may need to research this a bit more.

Plomb tool picture thread - show your stuff!

Very nice. A burr rivet set, don't see those often in any brand. Nice find.

Question about why helicoils don't fail...

I think that as stated up earlier, the reason for initial thread failure is usually more than just a tension failure pulling out the threads. That face to face sliding action of the fastener thread to the threaded hole also has a galling and shearing action that helps cause the original...

Snowblower plugs when going slow. In 2" snow I have to push it faster than 6th gear...

I would take a look at the impeller/auger belt and tensioner. You might be getting some slip that is preventing the auger from feeding the impeller with enough snow. Granted, they are geared together, but I've certainly had issues with plugging and poor performance from belt slip. Second...

    Stability of locking/leveling casters

We use those on automated assembly and inspection equipment at work. They are very nice to use and very compact. The center foot pad is a high durometer rubber, so it has a little give to it. When our machines are running, you can feel a little movement as slides on the machine shuttle back...

Updated question about flex head ratchets

Pro. I use non locking. My personal preference, but I understand others may prefer something else.

    Unfamiliar tap and die markings.

Interesting with the oversize. That is Seriously over sized at 1/32". I could see that if a nut was meant to be hot dip galvanized, perhaps.

    Unfamiliar tap and die markings.

The profile of that tap looks like a Nut Tap. Long tapered lead in for production tap threading of nuts. Very low torque thread cutting because of that long lead in taper. https://threadingtoolsguide.com/en/blog/short-wiki-about-the-nut-tap/ 1/32 might be the diameter change from full thread...
