I walked out with a couple mobile base kits yesterday. The proceeded to build them up using steel tubing whilst glancing at the instructions. Then today, I walked out with a 3/4hp 8" bench grinder for a mere $35. So i must now prepare for my shop to be struck by lightning and burn to the ground.

Thought it might deserve the resurrection. (Im down here between Cabot and Jacksonville)

Its a cutting hardie designed for a pritchel hole.

The base plate is interesting. The swivel lock screw is threaded into the main casting. The nose of it locates into the dimples in the base plate. Locking down roughly every 22.5 degrees.

Fits in perfectly with the pre-war Craftsman bandsaw and early 80's Craftsman 6x48 sander. I think I have a case of CIF, Cast Iron Fever. Either that or I just appreciate stuff that was built to last.

I am missing the pipe jaws at this time. Have plans to have some cut at work. I am also going to replace the jaw inserts. The V118/117 casting has a jaw width of 4 1/2 inches.

Now with the post vinegar bath(3 day soak) and a little wire brushing. Final reassembly with a liberal soaking of Water Displacement ver.40

This started with me remembering about a vise left by the previous homeowner. Which has set out under a lean to for the past 9 years. Doing the interweb scan, I found little information. Some pictures here and there, with a link or two to eBay or Worthpoint. Then it always came up with the...

Previous homeowner left a WARDS Deluxe Quality vise when I bought my house. So little info out there on these. Its needs some TLC and onto my bench it will go. I have seen pics with the 112/113 cast into it. This one (in my possession) has 118/117 casting marks.
