    Insulating the Roof

With no soffit action outside, and the ridge vent above, is it cool to do the drop ceiling with insulation (kraft-faced fiberglass batts)over it?

    Insulating the Roof

Thanks for all the great ideas, gang! I think I'll split the difference; leave myself a couple feet above the joists for long board/stud storage and then drop ceiling w/ fiberglass batts above. So, with the shrinkage from the hip roof angles, I'd guess a 12x16ish grid. As for the roof slope...

    Insulating the Roof

Alright, crowd-source brain trust, here's the skinny: -20x24 brick garage -The roof and walls are all 2x4, stick built hip roof, with three 2x6 chords running the width of the garage. -There are 4 2x4 posts coming from common rafters to the 2x6s below. -No sheet sheathing, just 1x8-12 boards...

    Water under garage door.

Yeah.. I know these blues. Might have to get the concrete at the garage front mudjacked to slope the right way.

Starting point- La Casa de Humo Frio

Yup, double garage. The roof clearance will be nice to get the cigar smoke out of our faces.Once I get the place insulated and walled, I'll hang a ceiling fan in there and an intake duct that will either blow out in the spring/summer/fall, or go through my air purifier in the winter (don't want...

    Wow, that's an incredible job!

Starting point- La Casa de Humo Frio

Here's my new cigar sanctuary, and the outside looks promising: But the inside shows no insulation, janky framing, ancient windows, and a garage door seemingly designed to have a negative R value. I've got my work cut out for me. Still, there's a nice electrical subpanel with 220V available...

How did you run your wire to electric heater??

If one is going to insulate between the studs, and then throw up some wallboard, would it make any sense to install a 220v outlet (like a dryer connection), and then plug into that from the heater?

Opinions on garage flooring- concrete, epoxy, racedeck

How well do tiles deal with moisture/water issues? The drive slopes a bit toward the front of my garage, and a hard rain brings a little water through, under the main door seals. Additionally, do tiles provide any thermal advantage from a cold concrete slab?
