    The Harbor Freight PASS/FAIL Thread...

Has anyone used their weight distributing hitch? At $159 with a 20% coupon, it’s tempting. The reviews on their website are good but I’m always wary of those. http://www.harborfreight.com/10000-lb-capacity-weight-distributing-hitch-system-67649.html

What brand Combination Wrenches grace your box?

I have Klein, Allen, vintage Thorsen (All USA) and some of the Pittsburgh ratcheting wrenches (Taiwan). The old Thorsens are definitely my favorite but I do want to add a 958 set of Wrights

Husky 52 Inch 18 Drawer Tool Box

I have a Husky 26" top box that I picked up for 20 bucks bc it had been dropped at the store and the top lid was bent some. For 20 bucks I'm super happy with it, but the one major complaint I have about it is how thin the sheet metal is. As others mentioned above, the HF red boxes feel much...

    HF equals what?

This is so so true. I think this all time when people get too caught up in tool company marketing. Ultimately, I'd be willing to bet that set of Snap On sockets which retails for $200 bucks probably had a manufacturing cost of less than 10 bucks, quite possibly far less than that even. Hell...

    HF equals what?

It certainly isn't and was meant as a little levity poking fun at those who have swallowed Snap On marketing machine hook, line and sinker. I don't doubt that SO's dead blows are probably more comfortable than HF's - for how much more they charge people they should be. I also don't doubt that...

    HF equals what?

Shhh! This isn't possible! The Snap On guy told me everything they sell is made with special pixie farts and will never break! ;)

Modifications to the HF 4 and 5 drawer service carts - what changes have you made?

So my first mod was going to be to cut the legs to lower the cart. I had debated that or replacing the casters - I was leaning towards cutting bc it's cheaper than 30 bucks for new lower casters but hated the idea of chopping up a nice little cart. As I was removing the screws for the legs I...

Harbor freight tool box.... I know... I know

If you have plenty of room in your garage, how about getting the 26" 16 drawer box? It's basically a top and bottom box for a total of $319. Since you already have the 44" with it's longer and deeper drawers, you can use the 26" for smaller items.

How many ratchets do you own?

About 20 give or take - I'm a non pro but a very avid DIY'er - I do all the work on my own cars including my BMW track car which I've completely built piece by piece (at some point I have taken apart every faster on the car) The funny part is when I did most of the work on building the track...

Modifications to the HF 4 and 5 drawer service carts - what changes have you made?

Just picked up this little guy from a local seller on craigslist for 50 bucks. Super nice guy and looks to have taken good care of it. It has 4 wheel swivels. I originally wanted a red cart but for space reasons, I need the cart to be under 36" in height to tuck away under my work bench. The...

    OTC Master Torx Set

I'm interested in this as well. OTC and VIM both seem to have good reviews for the money.

Do I have a problem with these Snap On sockets?

I agree I'm very happy with the SK sockets I have added to my toolbox. They all pass the eye test and look to be a well manufactured product. I put some of them to use last weekend and so far so good. Thank you and definitely good to know on Williams! I have an old Williams B-52 ratchet...

Do I have a problem with these Snap On sockets?

The seller actually only advertised that they are new, still in plastic with the part number - no history of being a source for blemished tools. I checked the sellers' reviews before purchasing. Again, I know it's not the end of the world but admittedly, I expected more for a company that...

Do I have a problem with these Snap On sockets?

Thank you for your helpful responses. I guess I assumed the snap on warranty would be similar to craftsman or others - if a tool fails, they simply replace it. Does Snap On ask to see receipts? What if I was handed down tools from my father? No warranty if a wrench jaw breaks? I guess that's...

Do I have a problem with these Snap On sockets?

I'm not sure why I upset you? No I did not pay the full price list price. That is also because I did not buy them from a Snap On truck where the Snap On man needs to be paid for his time and services - I did not take a "shortcut" as you put it. That being said, I purchased a Snap On brand...
