What did you do "IN" your garage today?

Head gasket replacement on my ‘77 MGB. At least the start of the replacement.

Best Paint for a dry wall garage interior???

I’ve found that for garages, exterior paint works really well. I used Sherwin Williams exterior paint (forget the exact type) when I painted 5 years ago. Still looks fine.

    Lift selection checklist

I don't have a lot of experience with 2-post lift, so all of my comments are 4-post related. I have a 4-post and so does my dad. Between his and mine, I've stored or worked on several cars, all shapes and sizes. I replumbed brake and fuel lines on a Chevy Beretta GTZ, I've done countless...

Would you rent out your lift?

+1 for nope. Nope, nope, just nope. Too many liability concerns for me.

New build - what style garage door opener should I use?

I have both. When we built the house, I just went cheap and had traditional, belt driven lifts installed. Two years later when I put in my 4-post lift, I had a Liftmaster 8500 installed. Comparing the two, the 8500 is light-years better. It's not much faster, but it's much quieter, smoother...

Any drawbacks from putting workbench on casters?

Mine's on wheels and for the most part, it's okay. Only real issue is the vise. When I'm beating, pounding, bending, it will/does move on me. I did it because I thought I'd move it to where ever I was working and make my life easy. Turns out, in 4-years, I haven't moved it once.

What did you do "IN" your garage today?

Spa day for my Buick. Oil change, new pads & rotors for the Lucerne.

None of my neighbors park in their garage.

We built a new house in 2014 and me having a large enough garage to have a 4-post lift was a design must. I currently have 4 cars in my 3-car and could use another lift! My Navigator lives outside, but I actually kinda like it out. Most of my neighbors use their garages as glorified storage...

    Garage Etiquette

Like most, first, I don't like letting strangers into my garage. If I'm around someone else's car, I always keep my hands in my pockets just to make sure that I don't come into contact accidentally. If someone does get into the garage, I let it be known that looking is fine, but touching without...

    drywall

My garage is dry walled and might I suggest that when you paint, use exterior paint. Stands up to the heat-cold temperature swings better and is more durable to bumps and scrapes.

    Shelves vs storage cabinets

Cabinets. Shelves collect too much dust over the years.

So where do you store all your stuff?

Almost everything you mentioned - camping gear, skis, dog crates, all except the fertilizer - is in my basement.

where did you buy your hydraulic oil from for your lift ?

Tractor Supply Co. Owners manual said either an agri supply store or auto store.

Lift location in 3 car garage

My garage is similarly setup, 21x31, 12ft ceilings, with a double door and a single. I put my 4-post in the single bay and it works well down there. It does get tight on the far wall but I can and have done several repairs without much trouble. A couple of brake jobs, a window repair, chased...

    Liftmaster 8500 vs 8550W

I went with the 8500 specifically because it is a jack-shaft opener. I wanted the open space above the bay so that the cars on my lift could be raised as high as possible. It's weird to say, but I've never been happier with a garage door opener than I am with the 8500. If cost is the same, I'd...
