    NEC and a Kitchen

Fridge equipment is an allowed exception on a SABC, but separate is OK. Google works for that. :)

    NEC and a Kitchen

That's the way I read it too. If it's an outlet in the kitchen serving a counter-top, it's a SABC and it doesn't matter if there are 2 or 10 circuits, they are all to be treated as SABCs. The part that's easy to forget is that dining and eat-in areas will have outlets and those are SABCs too...

A gas range can be on a SABC (along with a plug in clock). Gas ranges only draw low amps for the igniters.

    NEC and a Kitchen

Nothing else on the 2 required makes some sense. It's not hard to find small appliances that can pull ~1200 watts. I suppose it comes down to the other 3 that I have. Two I can fix and bring up to current code. One is a major pain, so I'll leave that one alone unless the inspector makes me...

    NEC and a Kitchen

2014 is the current code revision where I live. Not sure when the work was done and what code rev it was done under, if it was even done under permit.

    NEC and a Kitchen

I have a long term project to untangle the work of a couple generation of previous owners. Specifically in the kitchen. There are five separate countertop receptacle circuits. Each serves a separate "logical" counter space, even though some counters are "L" shaped. Two circuits are "pure"...

Are premium air filters worth it?

Nope. Funny thing about air filters is that they filter better when they are loaded. Premium ones, unless they are deeply pleated, may actually stall the blower so no air will be circulated.

    2 seperate returns hvac?

IF the supply and return is at the top, then the hot air that goes in the room will just get sucked right out. Better to have one on the top and one on the bottom. Not sure if it really matters, but probably depends on the climate. Hot areas, return on top - **** out hot air in AC weather. Cold...

    2 seperate returns hvac?

It may be possible to use a stud bay to move a return to the bottom of a wall. You will need to find a non structural wall, cut out the top plate, put in a register at the bottom of the wall and install sheet metal to hook up the new "duct" hole to the existing plenum. The stud wall and the...

Best Bang for the Buck? - new construction

It is likely that you will get more bang for the buck if you insulate well and keep the garage at 40-45*F when you are not in there. That will save more money that the newest high efficiency setup set to 65*F. Heated floors are nice for steady state, but can take an hour, or more, to get up to...

Code Requirements For Sub Panel Feed andPanel

On my detached, I got dinged for not having an inter-system ground bonding block. Suckers are about $10. It supposed to be used for grounding satellite dishes and TV antennas.

    Heating Detached Garage - Primer?

I'm not sure how much it will cost to heat without insulation, but insulation will probably pay back in a year or less of operation if it's currently not insulated.

Best pole for changing vaulted ceiling bulbs

Try putting a bit of dielectric grease on the screw base of the bulb. it will come out easier and you will have less walk on the suction cup.
