the ladder is from Lowes - dont know the brand. It is aluminum and rated at 350#. the wood version is 250#. It fits perfectly between the two cars and can be lowered with all three cars in the garage. :)
no dont do it - unless you have a definite stopping point such as a deep expansion joint - the joint will look bad. also most likely the colors will turn out slightly different shades.
what is above the ceiling? is there a large attic?
if so it makes a nice storage area - pull down ladder, plywood floor and lights - make sure the ceiling joists can handle the load though.

sorry to disappoint - its a stand-up freezer. I have a 75# doberman that eats all raw meat, fish, fruits and veggies. We buy the meat in bulk and freeze it.
but we are remodeling the kitchen and wet bar know and will have a wine fridge and beer/soda fridge.

5/8 inch type X drywall on wood (or metal ) studs, with the joints taped will create a "one-hour" fire rated wall.
