I have both Williams and Proto 1/2" 6 point and 12 point SAE socket sets but I did purchase the "Icon" brand professional sockets from Harbor Freight about 6 months and I have to say I have been extremely impressed with them. I have honestly been shocked at the amount of abuse they have taken...
I noticed this old Oxwall PowerMaster 1/4 set currently on FB Marketplace appears to have a Plomb/Proto style ratchet with it. https://www.facebook.com/marketplace/item/1580589825735112/
My local farm store has the exact same set as the HF 6 piece but it is more expensive. I am positive they were made in the same factory. https://www.agrisupply.com/jumbo-combination-wrench-set-6-piece/p/23199/
You may want to check out your local Facebook marketplace listings as well. I was able to buy two sets of large made in USA SAE wrenches from mine for less than $100 a set.
I was cleaning out some boxes in the garage today and found these. I am a IH guy so I wont be keeping them but they are well made tools. I am guessing Bonney made the ratchets for JD at this time?
It has been several years ago but I took a Gearwrench ratchet that I bought at Advanced Auto back to the store when it broke and they swapped it out for a new one.
These third party Ryobi One + 4000mah batteries are only $9.30 each when you put them in your cart on amazon. I just ordered 4 of them.

Re: 1/4" Ratchet Bit Driver with Socket Set and Bit Set $11 but Free After Rebate
It shows free shipping for me? This is the same ratchet as the Titan set that so many of us here have and like. It is a bit ratchet like many others that just accepts the bit into the top of the head like you said.
Here is the slickdeals thread on it. It looks like it could take the B&D batteries?
