My whole house water filter and softener project.

Thanks all. It has held up very well over the last 4.5 years. The shine is still there! The spin off filters are a pain to remove. The plastic wrench supplied with the filters have a tendency to break. As such I just remove them with a large strap wrench for removing oil filters.

    Pneumatic can crusher!

I did take some solicited advice and went with a larger hose. I got rid of the small fittings and used the larger "pro" grade ones from HF. I also got rid of my mufflers and used a much shorter 3/8" hose, so basically I did everything I could to increase flow. Unfortunately all those changes...

    Pneumatic can crusher!

Says the chump who's making everything about him! It's my thread not yours, so yes it's about me. I didn't ask your opinion, you offered it unsolicited. Further comment from you is not needed.

    Pneumatic can crusher!

Great idea! Mine can crush three cans to a total thickness of 1 3/16", or one can ~3\8" :)

    Garage Journal Deserves Better

Honestly there's no excuse for the lack of functionality of this site on a mobile device. EVERYONE has mobile friendly pages now days. NONE of the drop downs work up top, I can't access Quick Links, Community, Search, nada. A revamp to the HAMB format sounds fine (but I don't like the look or...

    Pneumatic can crusher!

Thanks! You sure could, it's called air eject and lots of people on you tube have done it. Most have a shield on the front to direct the can and liquid splatter down into a recycle bin. That's a fine design, and one I considered, but it wouldn't work well with my design as when it's laid on a...

    Pneumatic can crusher!

Theses a video in the first post and here's a few more. This last one highlights a problem and the fix I made.

    Pneumatic can crusher!

Glad everyone likes. I'd encourage anyone to make one, they are fun. But let's everyone drop the liability and injury concerns. This is GJ, everything thing we do, every tool we use, is dangerous if not used properly. I threw the crusher on here to show off and maybe inspire others, not get...

    Pneumatic can crusher!

A great link! I Watched the heck out of his videos while researching my crusher. Mine won't go much faster with a speed muffler, at least not on the crush stroke. You'll see it exits the bottom and makes a quick pass thru the switch, not much resistance there. Thanks! I tried hard to get it...

    Pneumatic can crusher!

I agree! I did lots of hurtful stuff to myself, but just once. Last week my grandson tried to reach in the hot over. Grandma was upset that I wasn't more concerned. I pointed out that he'd only make that mistake once. Kids are always gonna hurt themselves, it's the parents job to make sure they...

    Pneumatic can crusher!

Nah. Darwin's done thinning my family's gene pool. Everyone that's left is pretty smart. That little guy can safely handle a hand gun, with supervision of course, so a can crusher was much easier to teach safety on. He only uses, I only use, one hand for operation. The same hand loads the can...

    Pneumatic can crusher!

Think a different hose would help? I use a 10' 1/4" coil hose to hook to my small pancake compressor. I am curious how much faster or stronger it would be at 150 PSI and a short 3_8" hose. I do have speed control mufflers on there, dialed to max speed now. When I remove the mufflers completely I...

    Pneumatic can crusher!

Thanks all. Its a 2 1/2" bore by 6" stroke cylinder I picked up off eBay for about $45.

    Garage Journal Deserves Better

We definately need a better mobile version. This forum is way too hard to use on my Android phone. I just checked out HAMB's forum and while better formatted to fit my phone it still needs some polishing.
