Wiring 220 for welder & compressor

Been using this all year with no problems. Many, many, many hours sand blasting. No welding on the same circuit yet though...

    Traffic light wiring

I won the auction. $47.50 shipped is a lot less time consuming than me trying to figure out how to build a board. Thanks for the info and links guys! This will be a fun project over Christmas when my Dad is over from England.

    Traffic light wiring

I picked up a really neat traffic light from the 1930's. I want to hang it up from the ceiling in my lift bay. The guy had wired it to use regular household bulbs with a plug hanging out the back to plug into a 110 houehold outlet. I wanted to see if I could wire it to cycle through each bulb...

SAFETY GLASSES..Anyone use them in their shop every day

Yep. After 4 visits to the optician to remove a sliver of metal that embeded itself in my eyeball and started to rust. I wear them for almost anything I'm doing in the shop.

Wiring 220 for welder & compressor

So I found this at Lowes for $7! Its a non-fused AC dissconnect rated for 60amps, 2 phase for motors up to 10Hp. It has a handy on/off switch on it. Unless somebody knows of a good reason why this wouldn't work, I'm going to use it and feel pretty happy with myself knowing I saved a ton of...

Wiring 220 for welder & compressor

I spoke with MSC, they said that switch was only good up to 2Hp, my motor is 4Hp. He recommended this: http://www.hubbellcatalog.com/wiring/section-c-datasheet.asp?FAM=Switches&PN=HBLDS6 MSC quoted me $386!

    Part washer solvent

How and where do you guys dispose of the sludgy muck when you clean out your washer? I'd rather not dump it behind the shop.

    Parts washer

Thanks, I hadn't seen that one. Lots of info on solutions but not too much in the way of disposing of it. I'd rather not dump gallons of sludgy muck behind my shop. Feel free to delete this post then. I looked but didn't see how I can delete my own post.

    Parts washer

What solvents do you guys use in your parts washer? Where do you get it from? More importantly, how and where do you dispose of it in a safe manner? I've been using simple green for a while and it just doesn't dissolve the thick grease like I want it too. This is a semi-production...

Where do I find a 220 switch? I was hoping a simple toggle switch like a light switch would work.

Wiring 220 for welder & compressor

I got a great deal on a 2 stage compressor for the shop, now I have to wire it in. Its got a 16.5amp sticker on the motor plate. I bought a 30amp breaker and 100' of 10/3 wire. The compressor will sit at the opposite end of the shop from the panel, approx. 60' of wire away. Along the way I...
