Need to get internet & phone to shop - 500+ feet away

I have used a phone by EnGenius called the Durafon 1X in one of our garages. The garage is 40X60 pole built with steel siding. The base station is inside the garage and we can still use the handset in the outbuildings and surrounding areas almost up to 1km away! Seriously... It was an...

What did you do "IN" your garage today?

Re: what did you do in your garage today? Did a little drywall repair, then I cleaned up a "crapload" of gasoline. I was storing a friends lawn tractor and it looks like it must have a pin hole in the carb float. All of the fuel poured out of the exhaust. What a PITA. Anyone have any...

Compact Fluorescent Lamps in your garage?

Thanks. I'll hang on to my bulbs for the next time I'm off to HD. (The nearest HD is 2 hours away, so I don't go there often.) My local recycling depot will not touch them.

Compact Fluorescent Lamps in your garage?

I use CFL's in my garage. I don't love them, but I don't hate them either. I find that I can't work in the garage right away, I have to turn on the lights and then come back in about 10 minutes so they'll be up to full brightness. I've had the same bulbs in the garage for about 6 years. Out...

Bury phone and internet to the garage

Re: Burry phone and internet to the garage If you are using PVC conduit, I think it only has to be buried 12". If it were me, I would just do 2 runs of UTP Cat5e, Terminate each end in double keystone surface mount boxes and label them. Phones just use pair one of a cat5e termination (white...

Need Help with Flooring on Plywood

How about a rubber floor. http://www.rammfence.com/farm-and-barn/horse-barn-flooring/smi20.html These 4x6 interlocking "stall mats" look interesting and they might take the wear and tear of your sleds running in and out.

    oh sh*t moments

Working with a genie boom lift in a warehouse about 40ft up, a forklift driving by nudged the side of the lift. Now it doesn't take much movement at the bottom to equal a lot of movement at the top! For a few seconds I thought about attaching my harness up to the ceiling joists. Luckily I...

    Voltage Question

I may be wrong, but I think that between 108 -132 is within the range of guaranteed voltage. (120V +/- 10%) I have my PC and network gear on a UPS that does power trim to reduce the voltage. But I think an AV system would have too much draw.
