At the very least, soaking tools in diesel fuel will stop further rusting.
More than a few fellows here will take tools with a bit of surface rust and use a bench grinder with a fiber wheel to zip off the rust in a few seconds.
Wow… even for GJ standards, 50 is a lot. So sad you have lost so much. Don’t toss any evidence before you get input from your insurance. Photograph or video everything.
Good strategy. Having 5 of one tools might seem wasteful to some but you and I and most other GJ members probably agree that time wasted looking for a little inexpensive tool is more wasteful than the cost of a few spares.
I‘m sure I have at least 8 tape measures scattered about in various...
Another vote for 4 foot long LED tubes even at 12 feet high. Even and overall spread of lighting is SO much better than blindingly bright spots of light. I have nine 4 foot twin tube LED fixtures spread out over my garage that is just 20x20. Works great!
Absolutely right. But better buy 2 or 3. Looks like a separate tool that would get misplaced.
But that is an heirloom quality tool. Should last for years even in daily use.
How about the Ridgid Model 15? I’ve never used one but it looks like a serious tool. I’m just a home gamer and I go years in between jobs making a few cuts on conduit.
Your fire is making me think about getting interconnected smoke alarms. I have battery powered smoke and carbon monoxide detectors in all bedrooms and hallways but if a fire starts at the far end, a bedroom smoke detector won’t react until it’s too late.
I’m waiting for the typical GJ overkill suggestion such as forged eye bolts (with shoulders) running clear through the LVL with malleable washers on each side to spread the load after torquing the nuts with your M18 impact gun. 😎
Don’t forget to announce in a loud voice “This ain’t going nowhere”
