    Rebuilding a monarch 10ee lathe

Very late addition. I have a 1954 Square Dial motor generator specified by DoD and to be prepared for long term storage. Also metric change gears that didn't accompany the lathe to me  All three of my resistors were 1600 ohm. Installation error or running low on MG parts though it may...

Help with Starrett 216 mechanical digital micrometer

Thank you! I purchased a NOS 216 and it's gummed up. Mine included the instructions "Do not back spindle face into the hub of the micrometer frame. Attempting to remove the spindle will cause damage to drive gear. If repair is necessary, please return to: [Starrett address] " but I figured...

Is there a decent iron castor wheel brake available?

if you don't want to use the all thread, here's another option: http://www.popularwoodworking.com/projects/aw-extra-5312-machine-floor-locks and I saw another where they put the clamp almost to the floor and eliminated the threaded rod. R

    Snap-On 1/4" Ratchets - What Kit?

Tried a query, but my, many, many "Snap-On" posts . . . Purchased a long and short handle new ~ '83 when I worked on UH-1s. How do I figure out what repair kits to get? Guessed wrong once . . . Missing from those purchases: 7/16" OEX combination, needle nose, and the "Clyde Rupel memorial...

    Creeper Recommendations

Looks like casters with a two hole rather than 4 hole plate are pretty scarce. The Lisle has a pop-in with what looks to be a proprietary mount and they don't appear to be poly. May mean some grinder work and redrill, or it if you realy like what you have, may be worth getting one like this...

    Creeper Recommendations

Take a look at your creeper and see if your caster has a post or mounting plate. Then try a "Polyurethane casters" query. 8,829 results for Tools & Home Improvement : "Polyurethane casters" but you can quickly whittle that down. If you have a mounting plate, want to have spares or have another...

Thanks. I hate running around, Amazon is my friend. I figure with gas and time I don't have to spare right now, the mark-up is OK. May change when I can retire. But till then time is the primary thing I have in short supply. I try to get stuff I need ordered by Wed. so I will have it when I'm...

Lazer, my 1st thought. But (behold the underlying truth), electrons are cheap, so why no ask? R

    Creeper Recommendations

Hi all, to date, I've got what I needed by reading, and haven't noted anything I could add to, so have kept a low profile. Now I have a question about creepers and figured, what the heck, may as well see what opinions are out there. I'm 58 and have managed without one for a long time. Well...
