I picked up the same combination and even though the impact isn't brushless it does have the three speed settings which is very handy. Replacing a ryobi one+ impact which has handled everything I've thrown at it so far so I'm sure the Ridgid will do just as well if not better.

You can mount them as far apart as you wish, but they recommend between 4 and 6 feet. Mounting hardware is not included so best to get the type that works best with what surface you plan to mount it on. I actually have mine mounted on pair of strips so that I can hang them on my french cleat...
