    The Versa-Vise

Hah, well look at that. My dad has one as his main vise on his bench. Suits him well as a luthier. With a set of the slip jaws, it works pretty well for guitarbuilding.

    The Versa-Vise

Copies are available from Grizzly Industrial for not much $$$. No COO listed, but I'm assuming China as is much of Grizzlys product lineup. http://www.grizzly.com/products/Parrot-Vise/D3125

Rechargeable Aerosol Cans: Menards vs. Sure Shot

Yes! I work at Chevy dealer doing quick lube and we use these all day long. We buy brake cleaner by the barrel and refill the sure-shots. Works great!

How did your tool addiction begin?

My father is a luthier, and my grandfather was a union construction worker. Both have home shops. So I've always been around tools my entire life. But I guess you can say my "addiction" started when I bought an '89 VW Jetta GLI as a project/fun-car. And soon after that I discovered neither...

    Starrett Dealer Parts Cabinet

Thanks for the input guys. I'll probably pass on it though. No need for its contents. Sam

    Starrett Dealer Parts Cabinet

I came across this on Craigslist recently. Is $175 a fair price? I have no immediate need for it, but it's darn cool. http://lansing.craigslist.org/tls/4770930021.html Thanks, Sam

    Let's see your toolbox.

I bought a matching C-Man bottom box for my stack and retired the cart they were resting on to a service cart. Pictures here, with drawer-by-drawer. Full Stack: 3/8" & 1/4" Sockets Measuring on the left, Screwdrivers centered, Punches/Chisels/Assorted on the right Pliers Wrenches Hammers...

    Craftsman 142pc Socket Set?

As an update to everyone, I ended up going with the 299pc set. I got a smoking deal and only paid $311 shipped to my door. And it was still made on the USA.

    Craftsman 142pc Socket Set?

Thanks for the info. I know Craftsman has gone overseas lately, but that doesn't phase me as much as others on this site. I also cant see the need for both 6pt and 12pt variations of the same socket right now. I'm just starting wrenching so a "cheap" set fits with my finances best right now...

    Craftsman 142pc Socket Set?

Pardon my ignorance, but does anyone have any insight into this particular socket set? http://www.craftsman.com/craftsman-142pc-all-12pt-socket-set/p-00904123000P It seems like a good deal and it works out to just over $1.90 a socket for 142 pieces. I would like to know if this would be a...

    Quality triple square set.

Good to know that the VIM set is the one to have. I've been meaning to pick up a set for mk2 VW for a while.

    Project Kenworth

Nice work! I used to work for a company that built firetrucks, so some of this stuff looks familar. We always used Reyco-Granning suspension though.

Best Freebie or Garage Sale Tools

My grandpa was cleaning out his barn recently and gave me a few things that he wasn't using. He mostly picked it all up at garage sales and then never really used them. Snap-On 71N Ratchet Craftsman "Circle H" Breaker Bar, 1/2" Drive Wright, 1/2" Drive Speed Handle, 53+ Date Code SK 1/2"...

    Let's see your toolbox.

Thanks! When I got the cart, I worked for a company that built fire trucks, so there was a lot of scrap for uses such as this. The wood is just plywood. I didn't put it there. The guy who gave it to me put the sides and the top on.

    Let's see your toolbox.

Here's my setup. Nothing too impressive in comparison to the things I've seen on this site, but it does the job. 26in Craftsman Heavy Duty top and mid chests resting on a no-name cart with a few custom additions. Namely diamond plate walls and two shelves off the right side.
