Board & Batten - How'd they do that?

Yeah ... I might have to expand my search area a bit. Lancaster is roughly 1.5 hours from me, but there are some other places closer that might be able to get me what I want. Since I posted my last comment, an 84 Lumber nearby called me back and said they can get me some 1x10 cedar. Still no...

Board & Batten - How'd they do that?

I started calling around today for pricing and availability of 1x10 rough sawn pine boards. I have called four lumber yards and so far none of them carry 1x10's, let alone 1x2's. They all carry 1x12's, however. So does that mean that people typically buy the 1x12's and rip it down to size to get...

Board & Batten - How'd they do that?

I stopped by a large shed manufacturer in my area and saw how they do their B&B. They attach boards directly to the studs (not sheathing) from the top to bottom. There are no gaps in-between the boards. Then to get the drip-edge look, they attached a second course of boards on top of the first...

Board & Batten - How'd they do that?

I definitely intend to do a traditional board and batten with rough sawn lumber. The picture I originally posted was intended to show the offset between the two sections of siding. I just grabbed the first picture I found after a quick search, so I didn't really pay attention to the materials...

Board & Batten - How'd they do that?

Thanks for all the replies. I guess you're right: I was over thinking it. Fur strips it is. I suppose the 1x10 and 2x10 combo would produce a similar look, but it would certainly cost more in lumber.

Board & Batten - How'd they do that?

I've pretty much decided that I want to go all out with the barn look on my garage and shed and will put board and batten siding on both of them. I've been looking at a lot of pictures, and something about how board and batten is put together on the gable side of a structure is puzzling me. I...

Roughing in a door frame, but covering it up - have some questions

That makes sense. Thanks for the tip. And silly me, I didn't even think about the gaping hole from the exterior point of view in the foundation with my first picture/option.

Roughing in a door frame, but covering it up - have some questions

I am in the planning phase of my garage build. I will have a gambrel roof design, but I have no immediate plans to turn the space in the attic into any living space. I am, however, designing my garage to account for that possibility down the road. One point of consideration would be a second...

    Above 1200 Sq/FT 32x40 barn-style garage build

First of all, thanks for posting your build on this thread. While I was on the hunt for the design of my garage build, I came across this one and immediately said "This is the one". I will be starting my build in late spring or early summer - can't wait!! I really like your roof pitch, so I was...

Hi from PA. Building a garage/shed/duck coop

Hi from southeast PA! I came across this forum while beginning my journey into planning for my garage build. More specifically, I was trying to settle on an exterior design style. I discovered the thread listed below which turned into my inspiration for my exterior design. :-)...
