Making a seat from an oak stump

OP here. To clarify: Stump is from a dead tree - totally dead. Stump is still in ground and was (purposely) cut off at seat height. I'm doing no carving - it'll be just a flat, horizontal surface.

Making a seat from an oak stump

Technically, garage-related, since the oak stump is near my garage:D (tree felled for garage project). It's on the edge of a little patio and I'm looking to turn the huge stump into a seat (its at a good height and plenty big - over 100 rings on the oak) but I'd like the top (end grain, I...

interior hollow door with sound insulation?

Thanks, guys - I'll close the gaps as a first experiment to see if my sound is coming through the gaps or through the door. If through the door, I'll start looking for a solid core replacement.

interior hollow door with sound insulation?

I live in a 10 year old house with those cheapie modern hollow interior doors. There's one of these doors between the kitchen and laundry room, so a lot of the washer / dryer noise comes through the door, making my kitchen VERY noisy. Do these doors come in an insulated version?

What's this thing called? Spring hinge?

Not directly garage-related, but I have an interior door that has a torsion spring-type device that fits on a longer-than-usual hinge pin. It makes the interior door "self closing". Questions: 1) What is this device called? 2) If I have to remove the door for a reason, how on earh do I...
