i like walworth because you know they were made between 1892 and 1911. many companies did not keep historical records and nearly impossible to date like athol, starrett, littlestown. they are well made, easy to take apart and very rare. i think these are one of the MOST collectable vise...
i bought a blacksmith anvil on craigslist for $125. several in my area but range in price from $100-$1000. just have to be patient just like on ebay and find a good deal. i have 20 brands of vises and don't beat on any of them
just picked up but never seen this model before. has "SH" on side - anyone know what this means ? also has number stamped under screw collar - anyone know what this number represents ?
Interested in comments/experiences with rust removers: Evapo-Rust, TNT, and others. They are non-toxic, don't seem to bother original paint, but do remove decals. But must be used at temps over 65 degrees.
Are there some vises which are more valuable unrestored ? Found an old Athol #72 which I've never seen before and am questioning restoration or leave as is. Think it might be pre-1905.
