Broke my first SO Dual 80

In a sense I guess it failed, but since it is new it seems more like it was defective. Locking up on you is better than a catastrophic failure resulting in you being injured.

    Goodbye Snap-on Hello TOPTUL

To be fair, it should be pointed out that the two Snap On screwdrivers in your picture are around 30 yrs old. I'd also like to see how the Toptul tips hold up to being used as chisels and prybars. No matter who makes it, it's either a screwdriver or a prybar—not both.

Does anyone like knipex's smooth jaw pliers

But like you said in your first reply to the OP... Those are "Channel Lock type"smooth jawed pliers. Based on the thread title and original post that's what I thought the OP was inquiring about. For traditional, smooth jawed adjustable pliers I also use and recommend Superior The Knipex...

    most useless tool

Yes, good spring loaded center punches are adjustable (and often have carbide tips). Of course, the less hard you have to push, the less hard it strikes and marks the surface. I have old ones from Starrett and Blue Point that are real tools and work well for their intended use.

Question about feel of new Snap On pliers vs. older pair of same model

I have an older pair of Snap On 911BCP long needle nose pliers, and just got a new pair of the same model pliers in a set. The old ones, though showing wear and corrosion, feel pretty much as you would expect; they operate smoothly. The new ones, on the other hand, do not operate smoothly; they...

GearWrench has ruined their ratcheting wrenches IMHO

Yep. I was going to say something similar. There's several ways they could make the wrench so that you could have the "capstop" option if you wanted it. Interesting that people like it; I'm not aware of any "capstop" regular box end wrenches over the last hundred years. They might have...

GearWrench has ruined their ratcheting wrenches IMHO

I searched and didn't find anything. Didn't know the keyword was "capstop." Now I see previous discussions about it. Thanks. I haven't paid close attention to GearWrench stuff in the past. It was only after I acquired the set I have (second hand) that I compared them to my Blue Point and...

I Bought a Re-Branded Snap-On (or other Truck) Tool Thread

I think it would make more sense to name Snap On, Matco and Mac tools that are rebranded (made by other companies).

GearWrench has ruined their ratcheting wrenches IMHO

I searched and found nothing about this... I recently settled on GearWrench ratcheting wrenches based on my experience owning sets of offset/reversible combination ratcheting wrenches from Blue Point, GearWrench and Craftman Professional (full polish). However, I've discovered that GearWrench...
