evapo rust wtf hard to find?

HF and Oreillys were the hot tip. They are both off my radar for some reason. Got a nice Oreillys coupon so it worked out. Not hard to find online in the least.. and Grainger does indeed have it. The box stores and Ace seem to have moved to the Rustoleum equivalent which I have no experience with.

evapo rust wtf hard to find?

Evapo rust used to be sold everywhere. Just tried my local Ace, Blowes, and Home Despot with no luck. Grainger doesn't even have it, Mcmaster is a mystery as usual. It's available other places online, but it's odd it's not at local stores anyomore. Big push by Rustoleum or other competitor...

    The repurposing thread

Cut out a piece of cast iron from a table saw leaf remnant and made up a depth mic base for the digi calipers. Noticed during the project (after 20 years) that the case had a storage spot for it already lol.

6" x 48" combination belt and 12" disc sander options?

The issues with discs is you have to go very big to have much usable surface area for sanding (1/2 the dia), also the closer you are to maxing out 1/2 the dia, you have very different removal rates from the center to the outside edge. Having...

Contraption in the woods... what is it?

Found this in an old irrigation canal in an area by a creek where the city used to get it's water until the 1980's. Looks to be water tight and fairly old. The rod is contiguous through the barrel. It has a partition inside it from what I could see. Some kind of adjustable floating valve to...

Tekton technical article, "JIS vs Phillips: Understanding Tip Geometry, Myths, and Fastener Compatibility" Nov 2025

Many older Phillips have fit/worked just fine with 'jis' for years despite what the 'jis' cognoscenti have been going on about. Not difficult to notice if the tip isn't a good fit before butchering the screw. Often a few swipes with a file across the nose on a non compliant Phillips will do the...

My lathe tray pretty much looks like something from Star Wars, so the larger size will be appreciated.

    The repurposing thread

Got tired of my Jacobs chuck key.. dropping it into the lathe tray of doom, misplacing it between lathe and mill.. seemed the sob was always flying around. Don't know why it took so long, but today was the day. Found an old pipe cutter handle in the stash box and voila. Nice reach, no weird...
