Hey you guys pick heavy stuff up… what do I do with this thing?

It is having a break although like likely for good. It got to big and expensive to run and I think there was a bit of a disagreement. Welland is the big one now. Not as big as Dorset but none of the tat stands.

Hey you guys pick heavy stuff up… what do I do with this thing?

The fun fairs are amazing, still quite a few steam ones running. Some of the rides had their own steam engine to power them like the gallopers. Others ran of the two large generators on on top of the boiler. Showman's engines are truly the most beautiful prices of machinery you could build, they...

Hey you guys pick heavy stuff up… what do I do with this thing?

I thought some of you may be interested to see what our engines look like in the UK. The first picture is the engine my farther restored with its new owner The next image is a showman's engine. I'm not sure if you guys had these. They towed around travelling funfairs and had generators fitted...

Hey you guys pick heavy stuff up… what do I do with this thing?

My farther rebuilt a traction engine about 30 years ago in an old cattle shed. He had a couple of big jacks, some 6 and 8ft crow bars and a gantry crane with a pair of manually operated chain blocks. He did everything by himself. And no access to any other equipment. Rather cribbing he often...

    Why 8-10, 9-11, 12-14, 13-15 Splits Instead of 8-9, 10-11, 12-13, etc?

It's actually alot more complicated than that and you would never link it in to something specific. Other factors include nearest sizing to imperial and whitworth sizes. The fact the allies took an awful lot of German tooling after the second world war, which was metric but at the time Britain...

    culverts

I'm from the UK and thought some might be interested in other perspectives. It is not uncommon in my area for a culvert pipe to be set higher than the base of the ditch. Especially not on the outfall side and on the inlet side sometimes a pit will be dug if the pipe is in line with the ditch...

I have undermined my foundation footing - how can i rectify it?

Look up underpinning videos bon YouTube for the correct way to do it. If you fill with aggregates you will have an uncompacted void at the top as no compaction machinery can deal get material up underneath the foundation. A compromise on price would be to back fill with aggregate to 100mm...

New pole barn floor chipping in concrete relief cuts

It's even more interesting when you compare countries. I'm from the UK and would consider rebar at 16-24in massive spacing We use pre welded 7ft x 10ft panels of bars welded in the region of 6in then change the diameter as per specification although we work in mm for this so can compare there...
