    Makita 2708 Table Saw

I have one that's about 20 years old and that one looks to have been used less than mine so I think it's worth the price. I also had to change the cord on mine about 5 years ago. The rubber got brittle and cracked. The replacement cord seems to be a lot more flexible than the original one ever...

    Where It All Began

Found a box of some of my Grandpa's tools today. Here's a few things that I managed to save... <a href="http://s280.photobucket.com/user/sodapopsixtysixsodapopsixtysix/media/Garage%20Journal/Grandpa%20Barry/IMG_20160130_183312259_zpsx1zugiz9.jpg.html" target="_blank"><img...

    Husky Home Depot Warranty Questions

So I found this after my visit to HD today: http://www.homedepot.com/catalog/pdfImages/00/00d61783-2227-4948-bb55-e288f622cb4c.pdf My experience was a little tougher than "If your Husky hand tool ever fails, bring it back and we will replace it free."

    Husky Home Depot Warranty Questions

Today I went to Home Depot to warranty a 1/2" drive ratchet. When I went to the customer service counter and said that I had a ratchet to replace under warranty I was immediately asked for my receipt. When I said that I didn't have one I was told that it was store policy not to replace it. I...

    Generator Power Box

Here's an update. I've added the cabinet feet that I mentioned a while ago and a handle to help avoid picking it up by the cable.

    Generator Power Box

I just used an 1-3/8" hole saw for the receptacles, lined up the centers with a straight edge and punched them out. That's why I went with the single receptacles, so I didn't have to cut out any funky shapes. Since the cutting created some bare metal I just used the yellow on the cover. I like...

    Generator Power Box

I needed to come up with a temporary power box to work off of a generator for a short time. Here's what I put together. It's 50ft of 10/3 cord with an L5-30 plug on one end and a 100 amp sub panel that I opened up to put 4 receptacles on 15 amp circuits with a 30 amp main. So far it's working...

    Where It All Began

Thanks for all of your comments and sharing your stories. I really enjoy hearing how you've been inspired by your own grandfathers or anyone that has helped you become the person you are today. Since my mom was an only child I think it made my grandfather very happy when I came along. He...

    Where It All Began

He became a body & fender man when he returned from WWII. I have a few of his hammers and files. I had some more mechanics tools but they were stolen out of my garage a long time ago. I'm working on finding that vise that is in the picture. I'm hoping it ended up with a family member that still...

    Where It All Began

When I was young I used to visit my Grandfather's house over my summer vacations. I grew up on the West Coast and he lived on the East Coast. I always looked forward to spending time with him and "playing" in the corner of the basement that we called "our workshop". It seemed like he could fix...
